What do you spend on and what do you save on?

I always try to make and effort with my appearance - cleanse, moisturise skin daily and exfoliate once a week, and wear make-up every day. However, lately, I've begun to realise that I don't tend to spend much on the products I use. I tend to buy cheap products. I am not looking to spend a fortune on cosmetics, etc, but figure I should start investing in some things. I am 37 with reasonably good skin by the way.
In terms of make-up and skincare, what do you spend on and what do you budget buy??

Spend on good foundation and swear by MAC eyeshadow , I find it much more pigmented than other eyeshadow s
Other than that I pretty much save on everything else
I used to buy Nars , Benefit etc but now I have two kids I've cut back and have found brands like MUA to be great
I especially love their shimmer mosaic face powder ,I use it as a highlighter in my brown bone and cheeks

Regards to skin care , I am a Tesco Face Wipe kind of girl
And use Boots Basics Face wash or whatever shower gel is in the shower on my face ...
I only use moisturiser in the winter , little bit of Nivea Creme
round my nose and chapped lips before bed
