False eyelashes - still trendy or "last year" ?

Other than reality tv stars, does anyone still wear them for an evening out? (Formal sit down dinner, rather than clubbing with friends.) Have an event this weekend and perusing the style pages, I'm a bit lost as to what's "in" at the moment, makeup wise. I'll definitely not be following this sparkly stuff trend, and what I can gather, the winter runway trends are either red lips or metallic eye shadow/dramatic eyes look. Would anyone wear false eyelashes with either of those looks? Any suggestions/links highly appreciated.

I think they're awful, so from me they're 'last year!'

I'm only getting the hang if them now so I hope I haven't missed the boat.

I think it really depends on which lases you go for, some are horrid. Ardel wispies are lovely.

I love them (aslong as they arnt too ott) but I find them so tricky to put on so I never bother.

False eyelashes that look like one is wearing false eyelashes are the devils work, IMHO. A subtitle boost is OK.

A false lash effect mascara is enough of a boost. False lashes are done to death.

Yy never a good look when they are obviously false!

My colleague has them - they look like 2 big spiders clapped onto her eyes and obviously false.

however she says she "doesn't wear any other makeup" as either she can't do it or is so goddam stunning she doesn't need it.
