Bras (again) 32G but band too big. Which size to try?

My current bras are 32g, stupidly I brought a load yesterday based on previous bras I had, thought the bands were too big as old and stretched. Bands seemed quite tight in store, but wearing today, the band keeps moving up at the back, even though now done up on tightest.

The cups fit well and central gore against my chest. I obviously need a smaller band but confused on what cup sizes to try? also a 30 would seem to small for me, I am a 12/14 and I would have said I was quite broad up top.

I'm a 14 and a 30, , totally reasonable. If the cups feel right try 30gg as it will have the same volume

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 27/01/2014 12:53

thank you, I thought that might be the best to try. shame as so much less choice once past G.

Preferably get thee to a bravissimo store for a fitting - they are fab. I would try a 30FF as the cups go up in size with the band. Also it should fit on the band on the loosest fitting as then, as bras stretch over time you can do it up tighter and it will still fit.

There is a plus side-lots of the manufacturers change the cut at gg. You tend to get three clips at the back and better straps which can be more comfortable. If that sounds awful then try cleo bras which stay the same

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/01/2014 12:58

Queen you have got that the wrong way round. It's up in the back down in the cup to maintain volume. 30gg=32G =34FF and so on

thanks, im one of the few who didn't get on with Bravissimo, maybe I had a bad fitter? I might try again, I've just been going along iht measure myself then go and try a load on, in a few different stores then buy the ones that fit.

At least I haven't removed the tags from the others I brought yesterday so can swap them for different sizes.

the upside is that it must mean the exercise increase is paying off and my measurements reducing.

I am a size 14-16 (5 ft 7)and most definitely a 30GG so it is very possible to be a 30 back at your size :)

I love the fact the larger sizes come with thicker straps and 3 hooks... If I could have straps the width of my shoulders I would (!!) They always tend to dig in me there as I have quite bony shoulders.

My personal favourites are the Alana bra from bravissimo (although this does run a little small in the cup so be prepared to go up a cup size) and the satine bra also from bravissimo.

Brastop have some good bras in the sale. Worth a look too!

ok, so I've seen some nice ones on the bravissimo site, returns are ok? If I order a lot, I can send back for fuss free refund? The policy seems good, just wondered if anyone had experience of returns.

thanks everyone.

32G means 39" around the bust, so the difference will be 9" if you go down to a 30 back so you need to think about an H at least.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/01/2014 13:08

Bravissimo returns are excellent and generally very quick.

Fairylea · 27/01/2014 13:11

Can't speak highly enough of bravissimo. Returns and refunds are excellent. I've even had them refund some bras I'd worn a few times and they just weren't feeling comfortable at all - they asked me to return them and they exchanged them for 3 of the Alana bras instead. Brilliant :)

anyone have any experience of curvy kate brand?

Tried several which ones?

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 27/01/2014 13:19

I've only looked on their website so far, but Portia, Eden and Princess and smoothie/starlet for more everyday smooth lines?

they look pretty, so must admit to being taken in by the colours and matching knickers.

I thinkthat smoothie runs loose in the bandand tthey generally seem a bit small in the cup. They also have wide wires so I can't get on with them really.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 27/01/2014 13:32

ah ok, might just get one of each to try, nothing worse than wires that dig in.

someone recommended curvywordy blog for reviews but I'm not keen on her writing style.

You can get 28 bands as well as 30. some women are even smaller 26) - myself I'm 28FF but maybe a bit bigger now.

If you're not happy with Bravissimo (they're not all great there I think sometimes due to volume of customers) then just ask for another fitter.

investinyourchest.com does a great blog
