Socks that won't dissapear to the bottom of my boots?

I know it's probably quite dependant on foot size/calf width/type of boot etc. But does anyone have any socks that don't end up all crumpled at the bottom of your boots. It's so annoying and, if it's cold enough to be wearing boots, it's too cold to take them off and fix the saggy sock situation.

Posted too soon. Meant to say. Does anyone have any and, if so, where did you get them from?! I don't actually want people to send me their socks!

Are your feet size 6 or more?

Get men's socks. Just normal black ones. From Next or Sainsbury's or anywhere.

Men's socks usually come in 6-8 1.2 and 9-12 sizes.

PickleSarnie · 26/01/2014 12:10

Yes, they're about 7.5. So I guess prob on top range of womens feet but bottom of mens. Actually saw some nice ones in next mens (nicer than the women's) so will give them a go thanks. Do they grip better? My calves are probably quite man sized too! Smile

They are generally longer up the calf

thepurplepenguin · 26/01/2014 13:27

Yes exactly what I was going to say, men's socks are the answer. I just get the cheap Sainsburys ones in charcoal. As you're a 7.5 I wonder whether you'd be better with an 8.5 to 10 or wherever it is. I'm a 5 and I get the 6.5 to 8s.

thepurplepenguin · 26/01/2014 13:28

Oh I thought there were 3 sizes in sainsbos. Hmm. Still think the bigger ones might be better though...

Starballbunny · 26/01/2014 13:43

DSIS is only a size 6, but she wears men's black socks with ankle boots.

bonzo77 · 26/01/2014 13:56

m&s women's knee highs solved this problem for me. The men's socks just fell down too. I'm a size 6 shoe and fairly average calf thickness (I can buy knee high boots and they fit without any isshoos).

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 26/01/2014 16:22

I buy knee length socks from Primark that are great under my boots.

justdrankacappuccino · 26/01/2014 16:41

My favourite socks are from Matalan. Five pairs of cotton socks for £4 in various patterns/colours. They wash and wash and don't fall down.

M&S socks are crap IME.

Allthingsprettyreturns · 26/01/2014 18:32

I buy welly socks from the pound shop

Allthingsprettyreturns · 27/01/2014 06:57

I can confirm that after a brisk walk my Poundland socks have stayed in place beating M and S ones and Sainsnurys

PickleSarnie · 27/01/2014 08:46

I'm off to poundland then......

do you think poundstretchers would be the same? We don't have a poundland nearby.

I buy the fleecy/fluffy type ones from primark. £2 for 2 pairs. they stay up and aren't tight at the cuff either. I have a size 8 feet (euro 42) and the womens ones fit fine. asda did similar ones as well these sainsburys did the best ones as were really thick but they don't seem to have them this year.

Otherwise if I don't need the extra warmth I wear sainsburys basics plain black mens socks, £1.50 for 3 pairs.

Allthingsprettyreturns · 27/01/2014 16:48

Still up

Allthingsprettyreturns · 27/01/2014 16:48

Allthingsprettyreturns · 27/01/2014 16:49

Have you a poundworld?

fieldfare · 27/01/2014 16:54

Bridgedale hiking socks. I get really cold feet and these are perfect and don't fall down or wriggle about.
