HELP..! Maternity wedding outfit needed

I did have an outfit for a friends wedding in 4 weeks time BUT then we went and got pregnant.! I'm currently 13 weeks so at the time of the wedding I will be 17 weeks. I'm in maternity clothes already and I'm approx a size 16. I'm 4ft 11in so I need petite sizes or shorter length sizes.

I would like to wear a dress but would go for a skirt and top or trousers if I found the right outfit. I have tried to "google" outfits but the majority are for taller ladies or are in black.. Ideally I wanted a bit of colour..pinks/lilacs/lightblues etc.

I'm 27 and very girly, tried to give you an idea of the outfit but can't find it. It was from Jane norman and was a knee length dress with 3/4 length sleeves. It was a low v neck in turquoise and brown. The dress btw needs to be knee length as I don't suit it any longer.!

Ideas are appreciated.

Try Dorothy Perkins. They have some lovely girly dresses in Maternity wear atm and lovely outfits too.

You can't link directly to their outfits but have a look.
There is a seller on ebay who makes some gorgeous maternity wear. It comes from Thailand, I think their shop is called NOKWEEMAN.

I was 17 weeks when I got married last year. Thought getting a dress would be a nightmare but I ended up with a beautiful green silk dress one size bigger than normal from Country Casuals who I only thought did twinset and pearls stuff However I'm tall so that may not help.
Best way for me was to take a friend and go to a big department store as they have lots of different makes/outlets.

Good luck

Shhhh
in the back of this months 'pregnancy and birth magazine there was an advert for this company.
reetpetite
they have a range called mini mum. It caught my eye as I'm only 4'11 too. I've only had a quick glance but it might have something for you.

Thanks everyone. O do like one on dp's site BUT it's black..mmm not sure if I should just get black and maybe assessorise it with a colourful wrap type thing..? Or maybe shoes..?

I have seen these on isabella oliver's site..
wrap dress

OR

empire dress

They recommend both of these for petite and curvy figures..Again in black BUT they do a lovely raspberry colour. Ideal or do you think raspberry may make me end up looking like a raspberry..! God, these sites make the dresses look so elegant and lovely YET when I get maternity clothes on I look like a frump .

shhhh · 31/07/2006 15:49

thing is our local asda's have stopped maternity wear about 2 years ago along with Tesco..They said it wasn't popular enough ..I mean it's not like very little people get pregnant these days..!

Isabella Oliver stuff is really good quality and you will be able to wear it again and again. I lived in two of their wrap dresses in my last pregnancy and both are still in good enough nick for this time. Wore the black dress to a wedding with funky jewellery and a coloured wrap and shoes. Love the raspberry though I think it depends on your colouring.

mazzystar just what I wanted to hear !! thanks .
I have now ordered both of the dresses below. In raspberry and black. I am usually a colourful person and love and live in pink so I hope the raspberry is as good as it looks..!

TBH they do look good quality and it's nice to hear someone say that. What shape/size were/are you..? I just hope that they fit right and are not more catered for tall slim iykwim..

I thought about adding colour if I got the black dress, maybe with pink shoes/bag etc.

hi shhh

have they arrived? are they nice?

shhhh · 04/08/2006 15:56

Hi, Well they arrived yesterday and are lovely BUT don't really suit me... As I'm 4ft 11 they are all quite long on me. The length is way below my knees and the dresses don't sit right iykwim..make me look older than I am..! Also on the ruffle dress the sleeves which are meant to be elbow length are nearly to my wrists..!

Such a sham as I was looking forward to owning a designerish maternity dress.!

I have walked our local town looking for an outfit but no such luck. I have now ordered a dress (black again) from a shop on ebay that sells last seasons DP maternity clothes. The dress is similar to the pencil one worn by posh and may suit me a bit better as due to my size I need something fitted to show my shape iykwim. Otherwise I drown in clothes and look awful.

I did how ever get a wine coloured wrap from Debenhams with a bag that matched that I thought would go with a black dress..Will a wine colour go with black do you think..?? The colour is a deep red which is irredescent and does look black in some lights..Views..
