Do I have to buy a pettycoat??

I've got loads of skirts which I don't wear because they cling onto my tights so badly they look awful and actually hinder walking! Is the only solution a pettycoat, as my grandma would say? Where do you even buy a pettycoat?

You need a slip! Check out M&S :)

Do people really still wear them? Has this been going on right under my nose without me realizing?!

Here's some alternative anti static suggestions

A slip can make so much difference to how a dress looks - the microfibre just makes them hang so much better

escargot · 24/01/2014 11:23

They do indeed! Well, other than those that like their dresses clinging to their tights! Grin

You need to wipe your clothes down with a dryer sheet

A slip is easier. Bring back the slip!

I have one (from M&S). It's just plain black lining type material. I wear it under unlined skirts and wraparound/long slit garments to preserve my modesty in case of gusts of wind. There is no lace or anything on it. It's just like the lining most skirts have but separate.

LittleBabyPigsus · 24/01/2014 14:47

Slips in BHS are generally a bit cheaper than in M&S IME.

BigBadBiology · 24/01/2014 15:45

Matalan are great for under skirts, very well priced and better quality than you'd expect.

shelldockley · 24/01/2014 15:49

I think it's because clothing is so cheaply made now, cheap synthetic (clingy) materials with no lining. I'm not entirely sure of the difference between a petticoat and a slip, but I have one of them and it certainly helps dresses not cling to opaque tights!

Amazing!

If I don't wear a slip my cotton dresses stick to my tights. I had a night out in Vegas spoiled because my dress kept creeping up my legs. I now always wear a slip with an unlined dress. Warmer too.
