NEXT relaxed skinnies... but slightly higher waist?

Kikithecat · 23/01/2014 08:37

Tried on Next relaxed skinnies yesterday. They were really comfortable and my legs looked FAB! But they were a bit too low on the waistline so I got a big tummy blob when I sat down.
Anyone know who does a similar relaxed skinny with higher waist?

Marking my place as I want to know too! There was a jeans thread here last week - people recommended the Topshop Jamies as skinny with a high waist, but no idea what the legs were like.

BigW · 23/01/2014 08:42

Marking my place. Next jeans really suit me, but I have the same tummy blob situation!

BumgrapesofWrath · 23/01/2014 08:43

Watching with interest!

Kikithecat · 23/01/2014 08:43

I like the relaxed ones as opposed to standard skinnies as they skim down the lower leg instead of clinging ( which for me emphasises that my thighs are chunky compared to my calves).

At least I know I'm not the only one worrying about my tummy blob now!

Same problem here. No solution, sorry.

Kikithecat · 23/01/2014 10:23

If there's no solution I'm gonna have to buy myself a corset shapewear vest.

Did you try on a longer size? I am only 5ft5 but buy the 12L. I tried on the 12P and the rise was too low. The R length are OK too, but the L are definitely better. I just have them a bit wrinkled at the ankle or roll them up.

SomewhatSilly · 23/01/2014 11:52

Have you tried M&S pull on jeggings? They are lovely and high waisted with no button/zip (which always gives me The Tum).

HeadFullofSteam · 23/01/2014 12:14

I love the Next relaxed skinnies, they are really flattering. I am size 10 but my thighs are not that slim. I actually find the waistline on the regular ones okay, though I am resigned to a permanent tummy situation regardless of what style I wear. I have just bought a paleish grey pair of the relaxed skinnies - a colour I would never have thought of, but I really like them.

I haven't actually seen relaxed skinnies in any other make, so watching with interest.

burnishedsilver · 23/01/2014 13:04

Sorry kiki, I didn't mean there wasn't a solution, I just meant I didn't have the solution. I'm watching with interest. I've no problem getting the rise I want on skinny jeans but I'm getting sick of skinnies. Ming velvet skinny jeans are pretty good for sorting out a tummy. A relaxed skinny would be a nice transition to a looser leg.

Kikithecat · 23/01/2014 13:09

"Ming velvet" Grin
It was the 12L Itried on Primal
Somewhat I have sone M&S 5 pocket jeggings which are OK but I'd still prefer some that dont hug my calves.

Did you try the Next high waisted skinnies? I wear them and they're sooo much more flattering on the old pot belly!

DancingLady · 24/01/2014 08:12

Just remembered... ASOS Brady slim boyfriend jeans. ASOS Ridley have a high waist too, but they're described as super skinny so I didn't buy. The Brady ones are great, sit on my belly button, just wish they did a really dark wash with no fading. They're £38.

Kikithecat · 24/01/2014 10:46

I really wanted 'relaxed' Rioja because of the skinny calf to thigh look I get with proper skinnies.
ASOS Brady slim boyfriend look nice, but it does say 'low rise' Dancing.
Looking at the ASOS sight though, I am intrigued as what they mean by a 'mom' jean?

DancingLady · 24/01/2014 19:30

I DETEST those mom jeans - have you SEEN them? Acid-washed monstrosities last seen on any American TV show you care to remember, in about 1988. Ugh.

The Brady jeans aren't low on me - but maybe that's cos I hoick them up to my waist, cinch with a belt, and embrace the camel toe Grin

I love ASOS as it's free delivery and free returns, and sometimes a quick online search brings a 10, 15 or 20% discount code.

MarianForrester · 24/01/2014 21:16

Oasis high waist cherry skinny jeans are lovely and not too skinny, iyswim.

TinyDiamond · 24/01/2014 23:13

Just to let you know I was browsing asos high waisted jeans today and there are LOADS in the sale most under £20 Grin

DancingLady · 24/01/2014 23:27

Tiny just looked - op, the jeans I'm on about are Marney, and they're on ASOS, in the sale, for under £20. Slim leg, high waist.

Kikithecat · 25/01/2014 10:16

Ooh I'll have a look at those Marney ones then, Thanks!
