As thread title really. I've been ill and I want a boost. What will make a positive difference to the way I look in a week?

Should say, I'm off work so have time to rest and beautify but not out and about much and cash poor. TIA

Flush everything out and give the skin some plump sparkle back by drinking water. Lots and lots of plain water. Boring, but really does work wonders in under a week

Vitamin c night creams for added "pep" whilst you sleep

Good trim and maybe touch up of warm colour / lowlights / highlights at the hairdresser

Buff and file nails and add colour if wanted, but well kept hands instantly perk me up from "sludge" to "made an effort"

Sleep Smile

Hope you're feeling better now

Shape eyebrows and fill in as needed

Decent colour and cut

Shape wear Grin

Spray tan

Nice nails

Eyebrows. And exfoliation.

thenightsky · 22/01/2014 22:54

Give up alcohol, drink loads of water and get a week of early nights.

farrowandballs · 22/01/2014 22:57

Oh thanks! I can defo do some of these. Is youtube best place for eyebrow ideas? I've never done them. Tbh I always look a mess but I was really embracing the idea of sorting my body out this year - diet, exercise, etc. - then I got ill. Out of hospital now and, while I can't exercise or really diet for a bit I defo want to look better. Will think about getting a haircut... it's been at least 6 years since I went to a hairdresser! Agh!

I've been off the booze for most of Jan and I cane a lot of water every day but will get back into early nights after tonight - sleep has been a bit interrupted (and I've been sleeping on and off all day cos of codeine). YEs! These are all much appreciated - thanks!

A subtle hint of fake tan on the face.

Brows and fake tan are always the first thing I do when I feel a bit shitty, makes a huge difference!

farrowandballs · 23/01/2014 09:29

Sleep uninterrupted.

No alcohol.

Fresh air, run or walk.

But yes haircut if you can. Even a trim.

MarshaBrady · 23/01/2014 09:33

Just saw your other post. So some doesn't apply!

Try and eat low carbs, Omega 3, fruit and vegetables. I make a homemade facial scrub with rock salt mixed in with a facial cleanser and rinse with ice cold water, moisturise straight away to lock in moisture. Eye Dew sparkling eye drops before a night out instantly makes the whites of my eyes pop!!!

MrsMarigold · 23/01/2014 10:21

Water, daily berroca, asprin facemask good diet, eyebrows plucked and good makeup - beauty flash balm on the cheeks.

MomentForLife · 23/01/2014 10:28

I agree about the iron tablet. Ive been run down and anemic but iron is helping loads. Sounds like you need to recouperate so early nights are a must.

If you feel up to it go for a walk during the day and get some fresh air.

Wow this is all great thank you. Yeah I think I'll get some iron tablets for sure. I've just had a bath and put lots of moisturiser all over. Think I'm going to make an appointment for my hair and eyebrows. Might have a little walk out this afternoon. I'm recovering from a DVT in my arm - it's so frustrating because I was really up for totally sorting my body out. I introduced moisturizer for the first time in December and have been keeping it up and this month I'd knocked booze on the head and started doing daily yoga and 5:2 but I feel a bit back to square one and every time I stand up my arm starts to ache and swell up again. ugh. I'm sure it'll all be fine shortly. Will focus on the skin/hair/face level for now and get back to my body when things have calmed down. THANK YOU ALL!
