That's it really. It's driving me mad and have shoulders covered in flakes. Which is not the best.

Whenever I get this I always use Head and Shoulders - sounds so old fashioned but it does work!!

Head and shoulders do a shampoo and conditioner for itchy scalps. I had this a few weeks ago and it worked wonders.

Also make sure you dry your hair thoroughly as damp hair can cause itchy scalp too! (I found this out via google when I was suffering!)

Cheers, I've been using Aldi's version of Head and Shoulders but not working for me. Will have to splash in the brands!
I never dry my hair either so will try that too.

If you're looking for cheap. I use Alberto Balsam Tea tree as a break from H&S as it was stripping my colour too quickly.

Loreal elvive - its now in a New black bottle aimed at men. Fantastic and on offer at Boots atm.

DipMeInChocolate · 22/01/2014 22:45

But I think H&S is the best. ..

Occasionally I use a new shampoo and it will make my head itch like crazy (tresemme is a prime example for me) head and shoulders sorts it out every time.

The only thing that worked for me is Philip Kingsley Itchy Flaky Scalp Shampoo. Expensive but you only need a bit and it's lovely. Ended my years of persistent dandruff.

Joico daily treatment shampoo, it's a out £12ish online. Recommended by a trichologist I saw years ago. Swear by it as i inherited an itchy, flaky scalp from my DD. He even started to use it too Smile

What has worked for me, after a lifetime of H&S, was stopping using conditioner. I think that even the best, all the types that I was using, while my hair was long or short, was caking on my scalp. I now use a hair oil after washing, a few drops/small dollop, rubbed through hair and combed. My hair is in as good condition as it has ever been and my scalp is very rarely flakey. I also only use a very very mild shampoo - ideally an organic baby type, with no nasties (I am happy to put all manner of miracle creams with retinoxybendystretchy technology on my face full but have found that the simpler the shampoo the better for my scalp.
