Youngest starts school Sept , half days until Christmas. He is only little and has size 8 feet. Clarks black school shoes seem to start from size 10, Startrite have the sizes but in my mind very expensive £30 plus.

Any recommendation for elsewhere for leather uppers e.g Marks & Spencer , Tesco .

......really. My little man is starting sept too yet has only sz 7 feet. never knew this about clarks!!!!

he is my youngest too, of five.....am certain that the others had smaller than sz10 feet too and don't recall a prob tho....and up till and including last sept always bought from clarks.

mind, elder ones were girls and they always do girls in black from tiny.

actually....writing this, I bought smart shoes for my boys from clarks last may for a wedding and they were good for school too.

I would recheck, may just be a bad serving person making it up as they go along.....that is the main reason i don't like clarks....their staff upset me by either knowing nothing/measuring wrong/or talking out of their arses!!!

they normally have smaller black/blue shoes for that size - can he wear black trainers? - poor dd was only size 7 when she started and I had to really hunt high and low to find those black pumps they need for PE!

otherwise try somewhere like startrite or John Lewis
