I can't believe how £££ they are Am a bit of a bag virgin though.

My SIL has a lovely one (I think it's the Too Hot to Handle) and I love the feel of the leather but surely at those prices you're just paying for a name?

So persuade me... or dissuade

The too hot to handle is very nice indeed. Have a look on US sites for a cheaper price.

I personally think you are paying for more than the name. The quality is amazing, the leather is incredible and they last forever. It's money you only spend once, instead of spending £100 a year for 30 years on new cheap bags.

Also the service - you buy once, and get lifelong repairs, replacements and care.

Be careful buying from overseas sites. You may get 'stung' for import tax by Customs when it comes into the country and it may well end up costing you more in total than the bag would've from a UK retailer.

(And obv buy from a genuine retailer. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is!)

I have two MBMJ bags, a Natasha and a Fran tote. The leather is lovely, lining takes a little getting used to though. For the £ I think they are great quality bags.

Shopbop are very good and you can choose to pay taxes at checkout.

They sometimes have discount codes, sign up for emails. Monnier Freres is another good site with offers from time to time.
