What shoes do you wear with a long tube skirt?

Hey, I'm wanting to get a couple of skirts like the long tube ones or maxi ones but I'm not sure what shoes to wear them with. I have a lovely maxi skirt at the moment but it doesn't look right with my black flats.

Autumn and Spring - heeled ankle boots or Chelsea boots.
Summer - Converse or flip flops.

Ooo yes, I need to know this! Just going in to tube skirt territory but it feels alien and I don't seem to have shoes that look the part grr!

Is there a guideline as to shoes and length of skirt - I may have gone wrong by buying a just below knee tube skirt from Topshop in grey stupidly and I wear browns

So would these work? I have some next vouchers burning a hole in my pocket! Would they also work with other dresses/skirts?

You wouldn't think dressing a skirt would be so hard would you Chish!

Yes. Tbh if the skirt is black, I prefer tan boots because otherwise it can look a bit Nanny Ogg. And I wouldn't buy non-leather boots. You could get leather in the Clarks sale for that price.

You bliddy wouldn't kiwi!
I'm hoping it's because it's a new style for me and I will adjust.

Thanks for the advice Remus, I have black (brien straps) Hudson Horrigans but wear them with skinnies so will give them a go (does black/brown/grey go??) and pull the skirt up a bit, ruched style!

I pretty much live in a mixture of black, brown and tan. Am now fashion expert, but it works for me! :)

Meant black, grey and tan.

ChishandFips33 · 18/01/2014 23:06

Brien!! Meant brown straps!
Next investment shall be some confidence to go with all the things Mumsnet is making me buy!

I have a grey mid-calf tube skirt that I generally wear with a baggy or chunk sweater, black opaque tights and metallic ("pewter") brogues.

If the weather is particularly cold or wet, I wear lace-up ankle boots instead.

Heeled boots - calf-length, ankle or shoeboots. Think Edwardian.
