Nubuck, suede or leather ankle boots?

I've always had a bit of a thing about shiny black leather, I don't like it (knee high boots are ok) and think it looks cheap somehow. I've always gone for a more matt finish as I think it looks cooler. Am I being unreasonable and should I try to move away from my matt shoes dependence?

No! Matte all the way.

Thanks Cardoon, a fellow shiny shoes hater Grin

I'm the same - much prefer the look of suede / nubuck. I think normal leather looks fine on everyone else but for some reason can't stand it on myself!

In this weather suede will just get destroyed. Why not get normal black leather and then polish it with dubbin or similar to make it matte?

leather much better/more durable if you think you're likely to be out and about in the rain. Though I love the look of suede.....

I don't buy suede or nubuck as I can ruin things quite quickly. Plus, I like the look of leather. And ponyskin. Love ponyskin

I think leather looks fine on other people, just not on me for some strange reason. Yes, suede does get ruined which is a pain but nubuck is slightly more durable.
