Taking the decision not to buy any clothes for a year has been strangely liberating

I make my New Year's resolutions/plans in Sept when everything gets back to normal after the summer holidays, so I'm more than 4 months in.

This year I decided for 12 months I was going to buy no clothes/shoes/jewellery at all for myself. It was really to save money but it has removed a ridiculous amount of fretting from my life Blush I should say I have clothes, for 20 years I have had a policy of buying mostly good quality clothes that last (more or less) a lifetime and after having a big career change at the end of 2012 I had a proper splurge, so it's not that I don't have clothes. That said, in the normal course of events I would have had new outfits for several events over Christmas, for a wedding in October, I would have started thinking about clothes for a holiday at Easter, probably bought some things in the sales etc....

Knowing that I will just be wearing something I already have has been so liberating, it's freed up so much thinking time, stopped me fretting about whether I've bought the right thing and (I'm sorry) prevented me ruining outfits I was perfectly happy with by asking the opinion of MN Grin

I must have saved some money too!

I am trying the same thing until at least September. It seems a long way away but we just do not have the finances.

Being on ML, for the school run I just wear a pair of jeans, top and cover with a coat/mac. I do not ever really go anywhere during the week- school and home.

Thankfully I am back into my non maternity clothes. They will have to serve me when I return to work too.

I do not feel so liberated as I could do with some new clothes. My wardrobe runs from year to year and I just add a few pieces hoping to update my look a little.

Wow - impressed!!

I'm not going to buy anything else now until summer. Now the sales are over it'll be quite easy plus I can't see anything nice around in the shops anyway (this has been a weird old season for fashion and its all sooo expensive)

I know what you mean too about fretting over whether you've bought the right things - I never seem to be able to create a coherent outfit whatever I buy Confused
