I make my New Year's resolutions/plans in Sept when everything gets back to normal after the summer holidays, so I'm more than 4 months in.
This year I decided for 12 months I was going to buy no clothes/shoes/jewellery at all for myself. It was really to save money but it has removed a ridiculous amount of fretting from my life
I should say I have clothes, for 20 years I have had a policy of buying mostly good quality clothes that last (more or less) a lifetime and after having a big career change at the end of 2012 I had a proper splurge, so it's not that I don't have clothes. That said, in the normal course of events I would have had new outfits for several events over Christmas, for a wedding in October, I would have started thinking about clothes for a holiday at Easter, probably bought some things in the sales etc....
Knowing that I will just be wearing something I already have has been so liberating, it's freed up so much thinking time, stopped me fretting about whether I've bought the right thing and (I'm sorry) prevented me ruining outfits I was perfectly happy with by asking the opinion of MN
I must have saved some money too!
