What to wear over long-sleeved dress?

I'm going to a wedding soon and I plan to wear a long sleeved dress (not this colour, and with a low v-neck not a shirt collar, but sort of this shape: img1.etsystatic.com/018/0/5750519/il_340x270.502002451_bucf.jpg)

However, it's quite a light floaty dress for a January wedding, and I'd like to wear something over it but I have no idea what.

I'm guessing a wrap or shawl (usually my staple for wedding cover-ups) won't work with a long sleeved dress, but I have no idea what will. The sleeves themselves are quite floaty but with a tight cuff, so I'm not sure a tailored jacket would go either. Also, what do people wear on their heads to a January wedding? Help please! I've never been to a winter wedding before.

Dress is actually more like this one on left (but with a low neck): img0.etsystatic.com/009/1/6567045/il_340x270.448400096_906y.jpg

Shawl?

When will you need this extra garment? If it is an outdoor layer, I would go for a large shawl or maybe a poncho type thing. If it is for indoors, then I would try to wear something under it- long sleeve top or vest top maybe.

Slim fitting coat same length? OR fitted jacket with big corsage or broach feature?

Could you post an exact pic?

Thanks for the replies! Would a shawl work with long sleeves? I just wasn't sure.

Good point about when it will be needed - for the the standing around outside part, I think, and possibly the ceremony. I'm hoping the hall will be warm enough without.

I think a fitted jacket wouldn't work because the dress is so floaty. A coat would be nice if I could find a suitable one...off to the shops this afternoon then!

What about on my head? People don't wear big straw hats to January weddings, do they?

A coat, I would have thought.
