Thinning hair, ? menopausal any tips

Ohheavens · 14/01/2014 21:26

I've recently noticed that my normally full head of hair is much thinner than normal, and definitely not in good condition.
Im sure its no coincidence that I am menopausal too.

Any tips to get my hair back in to shape, possibly any supplements?

Many thanks in advance

Xx

hello,

Just a suggestion, perhaps get a blood test to check for thyroid issues. My hair was coming out and thinning and it was a combination of thyroid and iron issues.

Glad I got it sorted before it was too thin!

Medication and all is fine, healthy hair again.

I second the previous comment about getting a blood test done. In my case it was ferritin levels that were low whilst thyroid was ok. My GP thinks heavy periods are the cause.

Have a look at this article, and at the link at the bottom of the article to a bit on protein affecting hair growth

iron

HRT? recent research shows it is far safer than previously thought. I've been on it for 4 years now and my skin and hair are in good nick.

hi Oheavens I forgot to mention that I had to be assertive to even have my Dr look into it as I had very thick hair. However after reading this article I was certain there was an issue.

definitely worth looking into, even for piece of mind.

Thank you so much for replies.
My GP did a full blood test including thyroid and all was ok.
Menopause related I think.
