If you have very think dark hair they alsways miss a few and they start growing back within days. My beautician told me to leave them be and come back every 4 weeks and that they would eventually vanish.

I bet she would love that at £60 per pop (plus tip) every 4 weeks. So, I tend to shave the stragglers until the offenders grow back long enough for the next waxing - takes approximately 8 weeks.

Seriously, I don't have a huge budget for clothes and beauty and my only real indulgence is a damn good hair cut and colour every 6 weeks. I just got waxed two weeks ago, got my hair done and bought a couple of things in the sale and I am wracked with guilt.

Another quick Q. I'm 36 coming on 37 and love Uttam and Yumi dresses, but am I being mutton dressed as lamb. I don't choose the ones that look like 14 year ould would wear. I just love their slightly retro charm

What do you other hary Marys do about waxing? I get the full shebang ripped straight off btw.

Cheers, feeling a bit hyper and ranty tonight.

£60?!
What are you having waxed?
I am having electrolysis for my sexy chin hair but I believe IPL works great for legs etc. I'd go for that rather than waxing. At least then it will eventually be gone!

SirRaymondClench · 14/01/2014 18:15

Oh and if you still want waxing, your local beauty college would do it for buttons. The students need people to practice on.

wonderpants · 14/01/2014 18:29

I shave every day! And pluck as much as I can. I would be waxing every week it grows so fast and it is dark so I can't bear for it to grow long enough to be waxed. I had ipl, laser and electrolysis without success. It is the bane of my life to be honest!

PaulSmenis · 14/01/2014 18:47

£60 for full leg and full fanjo, including my hairy bum Blush (sorry if tmi) SirRaymond. Actually, I worked it out wrong, it's £65 = tip. I don't want to piss anyone off who's ripping hair out of my most intimate areas!

Do you think a student could handle such an onerous task?

Wonderpants, I really feel for you. I can shave it for up to about 4 - 6 weeks and then te stubble rash and razor burn becomes unbrearable and I have to grow it, go back and get waxed.

Are you brunette by any chance?

Do you get your fandang hot waxed??

I'm blonde and fair skinned I've got the most grissley jaggy legs I need to get waxed every 4 weeks and that's stretching it out if I had the money I'd get done every week Hmm

HMG83 · 14/01/2014 19:02

I get the lot down below waxed completely and full arms waxed every 4-5 weeks and it only costs me £35.

I never shave in between as it always seems to hurt more the next time! And my waxing lady tells me off ;)

SirRaymondClench · 14/01/2014 19:03

My hairiness would give any full grown man stiff competition so I absolutely feel your pain!
Arse-hairiness is standard so don't worry about that, it isn't like we are doing it on purpose!
I think students definitely could although it would take longer but I suppose that's no biggie if it saves you some money.
I have to shave my legs every day or I have horrible stubble. It's almost a full time job!
I would try IPL if I was you (I am brunette too!)

Queenofknickers · 14/01/2014 19:39

I would need to wax every 2 weeks so frankly I wear thick tights and let the rest go Blush

wonderpants · 14/01/2014 20:57

Sorry, I had presumed you'd meant face, not fanjo! I can cope with fanjo stubble (overgrowth if I'm more honest!)

McFox · 14/01/2014 21:12

I epilate the stragglers in the data after getting waxed, they then come back at the sand time as the rest and much less spiky!

I also epilate my underarms which saves money and is easy, it's only a 5 minute job do its easy to keep on top of.

Weelady77 · 14/01/2014 21:17

Mcfox your so brave epilating..... OuchShock

McFox · 14/01/2014 21:36

I've been doing it for years so it doesn't hurt anymore - I think I've had the same faithful epilator for about 12 years now!

Weelady77 · 14/01/2014 21:39

I bought one a couple of years ago it's been out the box once I found it agony but waxing I can tolerate

McFox · 14/01/2014 21:44

You do have to persevere, I think it's the slowness of it that makes it do painful at first. I once epilated my DH's back, I've never heard someone scream like that before!! Smile

PaulSmenis · 16/01/2014 08:19

Perhaps an epilator would be a good investment?

No don't shave between waxes.. the regrowth is much quicker then, and I am convinced that the hair grows out thicker from shaving than waxing (but that could just be me). I hot wax all as well and there are always a few stragglers afterwards as my hair is very fine, nothing that a pair of tweezers cant sort out. The lady who does mine goes over with a fine tooth comb and pulls out any strays.... Its took me a little while to find the right waxer tbh, and although I pay a little more to her than to other places, I would rather do that. I feel very comfortable with her and have no problem with her getting into my intimate areas with her wax... and she knows what she is doing, believe me I have had a few scary waxes before finding her. So if you like her, she does a nice job I would just keep on going there. if you shave you will have hairs growing out unevenly. At first I waxed every 4 weeks, then it was 5 and now its 6 weeks.

Rach96 · 16/01/2014 13:16

Do you have everything waxed everything off or do you leave a landing strip?

thenightsky · 16/01/2014 13:24

I'd cut the cost by just have fanjo waxed.

Honestly, legs and armpits are so easy with an epilator you'd be daft to pay for waxing there!

PaulSmenis · 16/01/2014 14:43

Hm, thanks Weelady, McFox, lolly and thenightsky.

Plenty to consider there. I can't decide what to do now, but sounds like lots of practical advice!
