See through bra straps

OK these plastic straps.

I have a bra that has these or plain nudey ones.

IT is a size 34G - the straps are NOT dainty, pretty/bows/lacey etc. They look like te things they tie round skips when lifting them back onto the lorry.

I accept that placcy straps are a bit naff, and sweaty too. But what do I do? I want to wear strappy tops in this weather. Can't expose the real straps on my bras, too chicken to go strapless even though have the bra to do this.

(Have bravissimo strappy top, so no one suggest this - at £32 a pop I'm only buying one this year>)

TIA for advice.

I actually think that the see through ones are naff as in "I AM NOT REALLY SHOWING MY BRA STRAPS" and can look sweaty in hot weather. Bra straps look ok if they are not dingy and go with what you are wearing (pink with pink, white with white etc).

I think people looking at you don't notice, but I always feel really self concious.

hehehe, thankfully mine are always hidden

alexsmum · 27/07/2006 19:14

thing is sue-the bravissimo tops only go up to a 36 back, so if you don't fit that then what are you supposed to do?

Blondilocks · 27/07/2006 19:14

My opinion is that if I'm going to be seen in a bikini at the swimming pool or beach then does it really matter if people see a bit of my bra straps?

beckybrastraps · 27/07/2006 19:20

I wear my bravissimo one or I don't wear a strappy top. Hate bra straps showing. Also a G and so can't get bras with pretty, skimpy straps. Even if they make them in my size (and bizarrely they do), I may as well not be wearing a bra. Strappy tops with droopy boobs is a VERY bad look.

Blondilocks · 27/07/2006 19:23

I saw 2 older women yesterday in halterneck tops & no bras - it didn't look good at all.

I'm only little (well not teeny) but that proves a problem as I'm trying to find another bra like one I got in debenhams as it fits really well but can only find it in a 36+ back :S online

beckybrastraps · 27/07/2006 19:27

I love halternecks, and I tried on one of the halterneck tops in bravissimo yesterday. Big mistake. I think you have to accept that when you have breasts of a certain size, there are things you just can't get away with.

Good thread idea Sassy! If you go on a bra shopping trip to Leicestershire can I come too?
PMSL at Flamesparrow's 'large of nork' line I'll use that!!

Sorry cod - I seem to assume anything you post is a pisstake

I have a few halternecks, with a cross over bra that I can change to a halter strap iyswim, or in this heat, just a hidden support job. Not a great look, but I am too hot to care right now.

With bra straps showing, I'm also of the opinion that if they are clean, a good colour, and faiirly close to the line of the top straps, then just go for it (narrow shouldered strapped top with normal strapped bra so there is no chance of top covering straps at all isn't a great look)

Hi!
Thought I would let you know that John Lewis have a "kit" called Bra Straps Galore from Braza which has a full set of detachable clear straps, detachable Halter Strap (goes round the neck - converting any bra into a halter bra) and a clear Happy Strap - the Happy Strap goes on the back to keep straps in and stop them falling off the shoulders or being visible under vest tops. The kit is only £6.50 and you can use with any bra that has removable straps. I have even cut my own straps of a bra to use detachable straps! but not reccommended on your fav, expensive bra!
Braza can also be found on www.precious-collections.com - this has the new Faveo strapless bra for C-GG cups too and Ulla lingerie and Levee hosiery in sizes 10-34.
Happy Underwear! I love it!

How about www.glamorousbrastraps.co.uk. I'm just having a surf on their just now - so may still be shocked at the £££.

Lizzzombie · 01/08/2007 11:06

I've got the Panache strapless in 34G and its great.
