Talk me through how to use straighteners!

Complete novice, do nothing with my hair. Mid length, thick, slight wave but not enough to look nice and wavy, more like a kink, I hate it but short hair does not work with my fat face.

Do you really have to pin up each section and do it bit by bit! How long will it take? Do I need to use products? I have GHDs and want to look all sleek and stylish

So, please, a step by step guide on how to straighten my hair, or wave it, or whatever else I can do with GHDs, including everything you think is obvious like should hair be wet or dry etc.

TIA

Ideally you should blow dry it first until straight ish. Use some form of heat protection product like a cream or spray
I am v lazy and straighten mine when it's dry without blow drying
Sections make it easier, I pull mine up in a bobble and let one bit out at a time to straighten, do the underneath bits first

I dry hair naturally, section into 6 bits. Work from back to front, right side first then left and from bottom of section to top. Each bit I straighten is about an inch thick.

If I do it this way, I don't fry the complete shit out of my hair and I know I've got all the bits of hair I need No wonky, crimped bits where I've forgotten.

Takes me about 20 mins from start to finish and I have mega thick, mega curly hair. Oh and I only use GHDs it does make a difference. Or at least I don't use shitty babylis ones that rip my hair.

The one and only time I used them I think I burnt my hair, it went frizzy and stayed like that til it was cut! Will a spray stop this happening?

Thanks so much for the tips :-)

I've got long (way past shoulder blades) fine but lots of curly hair, I never ever wear it curly so gets straightened every day, I use tresemme keratin smooth shampoo and conditioner and the tresemme argan oil straightning spray, I wash and condition my hair, then I blast with hair dryer brushing it with a paddle brush, then once it's dry I section into 3 spraying it with the straightning spray! I've tried every kind of spray and found this to be the best for my hair
