Can anyone recommend a wedding make-up person around South London/Croydon?

I've had one quote, and it was far more expensive than I had expected. Would love to get a couple more to compare, but its really hard to know if people I find online are any good, so would love some recommendations. Ideally looking for someone who will cover the Croydon area, as thats where we will be getting ready. Any advice gratefully recieved!

Hello - no specific recommendations, but have you tried your nearest SpaceNK? Most of the staff are professional make-up artists and do weddings. (How I got my fab, very understated but pretty, make-up done for my wedding... It was relatively reasonable, honest .)

I used to work for clinique in a department store in Croydon and I used to do weddings for those customers who asked me to after I'd given them a wedding make over at the counter. Wasn't really supposed to but there you go!

Might be worth having a few make overs at different counters and if you find a look and a woman who does it really well ask if she will come and do your make up on the day.

I used to charge a lot less than a proper make up artist and people used to recommend me to others.

Unfortunately I've moved to south norfolk now otherwise I'd offer myself!

Thanks to both of you! I've done some exhaustive research this evening and emailed half a dozen people. Someone got back to me almost immediately with a really reasonable quote, and I love her work. She's suggested coming in for a trial soon, ill definitely follow your suggestions though I'd it doesn't go well.
