Help me style this Vivienne Westwood dress

Any ideas? I'll wear tights and some wedge ankle boots. It's for a day time event and lunch. So smart ish but not stuffy. Not sure whether to go for a necklace, scarf, cardigan, jacket.... Am rather large so instinct is to cover up my tum!

Nice dress.

I would wear a fitted jacket type thing for a bit of structure against the drapey-ness of the dress.

I'm not a huge fan of statement necklaces, so would just keep it simple. Nice earrings tho.

I'm jealous - you'll look great!

AmberNectarine · 11/01/2014 13:30

No to cardigan, possibly yes to jacket if you have an appropriate one and want to cover up but I'd wear that with chunky jewellery (either bold necklace or earrings and cuffs) and show off the dress.

hiphipreplacement · 11/01/2014 14:22

Thanks both.

I have a black cropped jacket. Like this but not www.asos.com/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3469908

Any good? Thinking I'll be a bit cold though... Coat over for travelling/being outside etc??

Id go with a long coat, bangle on my wrist, nice unusual shoes, gorge nail varnish & fab hair but that's because I hate rings, earrings and necklaces :-)

NewBeginningsSnoopy · 11/01/2014 15:31

Did I really just say the words gorge & fab ? ;-)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/01/2014 19:39

I'd wear it with heeled ankle boots and a biker jacket ( ideally a grey one), plus a pewter or silver cuff, or an armload of silver bangles. And possibly a grey faux fur stole for travelling in.

fififolle · 11/01/2014 20:35

Gorgeous dress. Yes to heeled ankle boots with opaque tights. I'd perhaps try to get some colour in to the accessories- dark orange or purple dependant on your colouring?

MoreSkyThanWeNeed · 11/01/2014 20:46

Maybe just a long coat then, instead of jacket and coat.
Definitely get some colour in somehow.

Show the dress off - it really is beautiful.

Beautiful dress! Do you mind if I ask how the sizing comes up? I'm toying with buying a similar shape/material VW dress, I'm a 12-14 and unsure whether to buy medium or large... Thanks!

missmartha · 12/01/2014 09:56

14 is L in VW sizing, but it's always best to try on first. Lots of her dresses have waist clinchers etc., inside and attached to the actual dress to help give your body the right shape for the dress.

VW clothing id lovely stuff.

What remus said

hiphipreplacement · 12/01/2014 13:07

I would order/buy both sizes Gin and try on. Not much help, sorry! Smile

Love the biker jacket idea but don't have one sadly and can't justify spending a few hundred on one.

Do however think bracelet/bangles is a good idea so I will stop worrying about a necklace.

Just a bracelet, clutch and heels. I'd keep it simple, show off the dress.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/01/2014 15:09

Once you're inside, you won't need the jacket anyway so not worth spending on one.
