Jeans that flaming well fit!

I used to be a size 14-16. Had a nice couple of pairs of jeans, no problem. Now I've lost weight and am a size 12 and can't find a pair to fit for love nor money. I spend my days hoiking the bloody things up. Size 14s fall off me, and most size 12s cut into my hips because they're all sodding hipsters. Where can I go to find jeans that actually fit?

What shape are you?

PaulMcGannsMistress · 10/01/2014 10:15

I suppose i'm a bit of a Cello... Hippy and booby, but with a smaller waist.

I have hips and a waist and I find Levi's Curve jeans a really good fit. Go to a store and get fitted. They are really helpful and bring you loads of sizes and styles to try.

HazleNutt · 10/01/2014 15:42

It sounds like you need curvy cut jeans, a little higher and smaller waist and more room for hips. Several brands do those, try Levi's Bold Curve, as suggested, or for example GAP Curvy range.

whereisshe · 10/01/2014 16:03

I have a small waist and a big bum. I've found most Danish brands of jeans fit me for some reason (eg Vila from asos).

BikeRunSki · 10/01/2014 16:06

DH's jeans fit me best! I am also a curvy 12 but men's 32/32 501 seem to fit well. I also like Next "sexy slim leg".

nipersvest · 10/01/2014 16:08

i second levi curve range, they are fab. i also like next sexy slim leg, have 3 pairs of those.

SorrelForbes · 10/01/2014 17:34

I give the same answer to all jeans posts Grin

Gap High Rise Skinnies.

gerbiltamer · 10/01/2014 17:49

Defo for Levi's curve ID, although the sizes hugely differ between styles and denim washes so they are difficult to buy online.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/01/2014 17:53

I'm a similar shape, Levi's bold curve in classic rise work for me (modern too low) and I also have a pair of the slim leg next slim and shape which have a high waist and are very flattering. and fit!

whereisshe · 10/01/2014 19:14

Sorrel what shape are you, out of interest? I've always found high rise jeans make my arse look about the size of a house (and skinnies make me look stumpy) but I'm willing to be convinced there are jeans that don't do that!

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/01/2014 19:19

I'm pretty sure Sorrel is an hourglass. I'm hourglass too (maybe with a slightly fuller bum!) and higher waisted jeans are the best option for me. I found in low waisted I was having to go up in sizes to get them to fit because they were closing on the biggest bit, then they'd gape at the back and everyone would see my pants when I sat down. Mid or high rise are much better.

Admittedly I tend to wear tops which are mid bum length or longer, so you cant actually see how high the rise is. I hadn't worn jeans for YEARS until I got a pair of the Levis. SKinnies!. Wore them for a night out with killer heels, a cowl neck top and a blazer. My best friend didn't recognise me and I got hit on several times. I'm a big assed big hipped 14-16 so no skinny minnie. I have concluded I can do jeans...but I have to make an effort to style them. Wearing jeans with a hoodie is never going to work for me.

SorrelForbes · 10/01/2014 19:22

Yep, I'm very hourglass I'm currently 38/28/39 with a 29" inside leg. I'm 5'4" so these jeans are a bit long so I turn them up with ankle boots and leave unturned with high heels. They are so flattering and the black ones are quit stiff denim which really sucks everything in! I size down a lot and buy a 27. I don't think they make my arse look too massive [hopeful]

Bunbaker · 10/01/2014 19:23

Staistically How high rise are the Levi bold curve? I am a "bold curve" shape but find them too low rise and they cut into me well below my waist.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/01/2014 19:24

Ah yes, measurements help - I think I'm about 41/30/42

dexter73 · 10/01/2014 19:26

I'm an hourglass and I find that high cut jeans make my bum look huge. I usually go for low to mid rise. I do have a short body and long legs though so I run of body if I wear anything too high cut which doesn't help.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/01/2014 19:27

There are two rises bunbaker. I've been caught out with them myself as I picked up a pair in TKMaxx which were awesome, ordered more online and they were rubbish. Looking at the website there is a "modern rise" and a "classic"...I think the ones which fit me are a classic.

These are the next ones which work on me - here. They fit really pretty well in a 14

HomeEcoGnomist · 10/01/2014 19:29

Jigsaw Windsor fit solved my jeans nightmare.
Straight leg (so slim line without being legging-like)
Size 12 perfect on me when normally I feel like I would be a 13...if such a thing existed

Not the cheapest, but then you get what you pay for

Bunbaker · 10/01/2014 20:11

Great. Thank you.
