Finding the perfect lipstick to light up my face

I'm 38 and I think that my neural lipsticks don't cut it.. And glosses don't last well enough for me

I'd like a long lasting, elegant lippie that makes me look lovely and awake. I have dark blonde hair and am quite a light beige (that is what my foundation is anyway!! Bourjois light beige..)

Where should I look? How? Mac? Chanel? Cheaper ones?

Any advice?

It is not the actual make but the colour you need to look into -at least that is the first thing. Is your colouring warm rather than cool? I am guessing so as you picked a light beige rather than a pinkish foundation.

If you suit red look for one without a blue tone to it. Try for a 'young looking' pinky red or yellowy red. Or a brightish (but not fuchsia) pink. If you prefer more natural tones try for a sheerer type of lipstick - kind of 'juicy pink' colour with no blue tones. Unless you suit a lot of beiges and browns, natural beiges can make you look rather odd and muddy. A lot of women of a certain age use beige thinking it makes them young but it can look very ageing If you do want a beige perhaps go for one with soe pink in it to stop you looking 'dead'.

Lancome do some nice pinks, likewise Dior but if you are near Superdrug why not look at the very cheap end until you get the colour right? MUA do some good ones as do Collection (what was Collection 2000). Also Maybelline has some nice sheeny ones and coloured lip balm to try.

A berry rose should work.

With your colouring I think a coral or a bright, warm pink would do it.

I went to a Chanel counter. The SA sat me down and spent ages until she got the right lipstick. She was absolutely right in her choice and I get lots of compliments when I wear the one she selected.

Lancome 06 is lovely as is most rose/berry coloured lipsticks by bobbi brown, laura mercier and chanel.

Sorry was away for so long!

These are great tips

Do Lancome/ Dior/ Chanel lipsticks last reasonably well on the lips?

If you 'pat' your lipstick onto your lips with your ring finger, blot then pat again any lipstick will last a lot longer, doesn't matter what brand.
