My dbro is getting married in 4 weeks. My mum still doesn't have her outfit. She likes this look:

I'm always amazed at the things everyone suggests on this board so really hoping you can help us...

And she is thinking of the skirt in navy

Ok . It will be February. Is the wedding in the UK? If so your mum needs more than a chiffon blouse and a lace skirt .

namechangeformymum · 07/01/2014 21:02

Yes in uk and she needs a coat too! Nothing like leaving til the last minute!

What about a dress and coat? There have been lots of lace dresses around.

We need to know her age, size, colouring and budget. Any colours to avoid ? ( same as bridesmaids, MoB)

And how could you have allowed her to leave it this late????

Do you love near a large town? If so, phone up John Lewis, debenhams or House of Fraser and make appointments with their personal shoppers. You might need to beg to get one soon .

It's a bit difficult as the shops are still full of sale stuff and the new season stock is only just starting to come in. Could you get your brother to postpone his wedding until March? < only joking >

Is it a big wedding? The smaller the wedding the less likely that someone else will have the same outfit. For a big wedding the mothers need to go for a more unusual brand. For a small wedding she can shop anywhere.

I know - she was waiting for mob to get outfit, then it was Christmas ....

Mid 50s, size 10, blonde and fair skin, budget isn't really an issue at this point! She spent about £450 on outfit for other brothers wedding. Bridesmaids in royal blue so that's the only colour

Just suggested a lace dress but apparently she wore a lace dress on Xmas day so that's out.

She's found this skirt

I'm not sure about black but she thinks it's a winter wedding and as long as it's with bright accessories?

Medium size wedding. She is going shopping on 20th to Westfield at Stratford so may suggest she books something ASAP.

She found outfit so easily for other brothers wedding and this wedding just seems to have crept up on us!

(Not got my outfit yet Blush but I think I'm going to hire something)

Don't let her buy a skirt, then try to match a blouse and coat. That could take weeks and you don't have enough time.

She is youngish, slim and blond, why would she want to wear black to any wedding , let alone her sons? It's a chance to be a bit glamorous!

burnishedsilver · 07/01/2014 21:22

Why don't you both hire a designer outfit?

namechangeformymum · 07/01/2014 21:34

I'm pushing more towards a dress for those exact reasons!

Have just remembered that we've got a designer boutique near us so am telling her to make an appointment there first thing tomorrow.

She is going shopping with SIL - I fear that their good relationship may not survive if she doesn't have main outfit sorted!!
