Lulu Guinness handbags - classy or trashy??

I have been tempted by the Jenny bag for a while but I'm just not sure if this brand is any good. Any opinions or advice?

I'd heard so much about this brand in magazines but IRL I have to say the quality didn't match up and they are way overpriced for what they are IMO.

I have a wallet - I love it, I've had it for 2 years and it looks like new. It's one of the more subtle designs though.

I'm not keen on brands which shout at you from across the street - Joules clothes with their enormous logos, Louis Vuitton bags, Burberry tartan & Lulu Guinness lip clutches. That's a personal thing though & doesn't mean I think them trashy. I have 2 LG bags which I've had for a few years & I rate highly. I did buy them at half-price in sales though - I think the full prices are aimed at people who can afford to live in Sloane Square. I have a canvas tote bag which is plain black apart from a relatively discrete (for LG) cityscape on 1 side. Looks good as new still & has brilliantly strong handles & so far has lasted 5 times longer than leather bags I bought from Gap & Banana Republic whose handles broke within 6 months. I also have a plain red handbag which is beautifully soft leather and still looks good as new after a couple of years. I think the Jenny bag is patent leather & I've never had a bag made of patent leather that has lasted that well - they always seem to crack & look shoddy well before bags made of non-patent leather.

I have a LG Paula and Pollyanna... They are not particularly trashy but still quite fun.

I've had them for a year or so. Moderate use. Both still in great nick, they wipe clean thanks to the patent!

They're not to everyone's taste but I like looking quite 'put together with a twist' and they have a fun edge compared to other 'grown up bags'.

I haven't seen one IRL but I have seen LG on QVC.
The shapes of some of the bags are nice but I don't like the trashy 'lips' motif. And some of the very shiney ones look a bit plasticey.

(I don't like Butler and Wilson either. Very Emperors New Clothes )

Butler and Wilson used to be top notch costume jewellery...Used to be.

It's just shiny overpriced tat with a label now.

I have lots of LG bags. My DH works very close to one of the shops and waits for the half price sale before buying me a surprise gift.

I don't go in for obvious branded stuff so you wouldn't know mine were LG unless you asked me.

I get loads of people admiring them when I'm out shopping. All have lasted really well. I've had some for 8 years and still use them.

Would never pay full price though.

I've only checked them out in RL in Selfridges, Harrods, etc and must say I think they did look very tacky and didn't tempt me at all. I prefer something more understated personally.

I used to have a red lips bag that I used a couple of times with a black dress but I got bored of it very quickly so I flogged it on ebay. Can't say as I've seen anything else by her that has appealed to me.
