Which high street chain do you think provides best quality for the money?

I bought 2 lovely jumpers in H&M before Christmas that look much more expensive than their £19.99 price tag but these finds are few and far between. Where do you get your best budget buys?

I would say H&M, Tkmaxx, M&S, but you are right, not all of their stock is good, you have to choose carefully.

Most Uniqlo things that I have bought are still hanging on in there!

WhereIsMyHat · 07/01/2014 10:26

I agree with uniqlo and some H&M stuff. All the gap jeans I have are still in pretty good condition despite lots of wear and age.

I had never even heard on Uniqlo before coming on here but now know there's one quite local so will pay them a visit.

I love river island but beginning to think in to old Shock

sparklysilversequins · 07/01/2014 14:52

Uniqlo definitely. If I could only ever shop at one clothes shop forever it would be there.

LadyIsabellasHollyWreath · 07/01/2014 15:20

I want to like Uniqlo because they're great VFM, good quality and in theory have the minimalist style I like, but in practice I just never find anything I want to hand over the cash for. GAP really hits the spot for me although the knees of their jeans don't last very long.

I agree that some H&M stuff is fantastic value. I've got a basic navy cable knit jumper of theirs on that cost about 13 quid I think. It's 92% artificial obviously at that price, but you'd never know. And I got a T shirt for 2.99 which is a lovely shape, totally opaque (not a given at that price) and a very expensive looking dark rich green. But there's other stuff on their rails whose hems will clearly bunch and unravel if they even sniff a washing machine.

Another uniqlo lover here. Most of what I have bought has lasted well.

ElizabethBathory · 07/01/2014 15:36

I have some great stuff from H&M that has lasted years (basics like t-shirts and vest tops). Ditto Topshop for dresses and jumpers, when they're made from cotton/wool or viscose. Apart from that, only Uniqlo is consistently good quality-wise I think.

ElizabethBathory · 07/01/2014 15:36

Oh yes and Gap for jeans and jumpers :)

pixelchick10 · 07/01/2014 16:49

uniqlo and some really cheap H and M t-shirts

Djangor · 07/01/2014 17:22

Gap for me - fabric quality fantastic for the price. First place I look for trousers, knickers & sweaters. Summer knitwear from Oasis has also lasted well. I'd like to be able to get more from Uniqlo but I'm smallish & their smallest sizes often swamp me.
