What would you spend £100/£200 if you had to spend it on yourself?

My dad has very unexpectedly decided to give me £200 after he had a small windfall. There is only one catch, I have to spend £100 of it on myself on something nice and not on the kids or on paying a bill.

Any ideas? I could in theory spend all of the £200 on myself but I feel a bit mean doing that. I really like Vivienne Westwood and have always coveted a brooch or a small handbag. My DH thinks I should put some money to and buy this... but it's not even leather

I think I'd buy an Alexander McQueen scarf in the sales. Really beautiful prints.

If you like the look of that bag, but want leather, look at Aspinall.

If there was no 'name' you wouldn't think it was £££, it's more like something off Romford market

What about a proper investment piece?
NorthFace jacket?

Pair of boots?
Something that will give you good cost per wear?

I like the bag, and think it's a good idea particularly if you like it.

The brooch is a bit tacky, IMO.

Alexander McQueen scarf is a good shout.

I love designer bags, and have about £10k worth. If someone suggested a North Face jacket I would actually laugh at them . Why would that be an investment for me?! I wouldn't ever require it! Bizarre suggestion for someone considering a bag or brooch.

I do like McQueen scarfs but usually do not buy designer at all really. Aspinall is a good idea as well bunny.

70 I think i'd be tempted to invest in a NorthFace jacket but i'm about 6 stone overweight and currently doing slimming world so i'm avoiding buying clothes which is a shame.

I don't buy designer, as a general rule, but I would buy McQueen, especially his scarves. Ditto Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino. How about a pretty piece of jewellery? Alex Monroe or something in the NAP sale?

I like the handbag, not so sure about the brooch.

I need a new bag at the moment so would spend some of the money on that and the rest on a day out in London with DD.

Designer bags are great but only if you buy them for the quality and longevity. Cheap ones are usually just paying for the name, not my cup of tea at all.

What about a good quality purse? I got an orla kiehly one about 6 years ago, use it every single day and it still looks great. I love it, it gives me real pleasure, definitely worth the money!

The Zara bags can be excellent value for money. Ditto Massimo Dutti, so might be worth looking there, too.

The thing with bags is that I would be unlikely to love the same bag for much longer than about 18 months and then it would be condemned to the back of the wardrobe when I found something else. Bags are a bit of a fashion statement, I think and people don't generally wear the same one for that long.

I have never worn a brooch-they look like the sort of thing my grandma would wear, but if that's your thing, then great.

If it was me, I'd go for a necklace or bracelet-I'd be more likely to wear that-on and off-for years and years. Or a great pair of boots.

Alex Monroe is gorgeous, I have a gold bumble bee necklace which I love and some twisty flowery hoop earrings. I also bought a wallet in the smythson sale last year and it still looks new, gorgeous leather and some good discounts. Buy something you'll see and use a lot.

I'd pay for a hoc colour or style consult. Crazy as you don't walk away with anything in your hand, but it pays for itself quickly as you don't buy silly clothes.

butterflies I really like the bumble bee but don't suit gold so would have to get it in silver and i'm not sure it would look as good.

Kosher I have just had a hoc colour consult and i'm a jewel winter. I've just lost 1st on slimming world and need to lose about another 6. I think a style day might be more useful when i'm a bit smaller, i'm thinking the fat would get in the way of a proper style consult. Good idea though
