What shoes to wear with bridesmaid dress?

I'm matron of honour at my wonderful friends wedding next month, she has said I can choose whatever shoes I like and she will pay for them.
The only problem is I'm hopeless with this kind of thing!

The dress is aubergine purple, chiffon, a-line, full length, sweetheart neckline, and I'm 5"8.

I'm thinking black for the colour of the shoes please correct me if that's a bad idea.

I would quite like to be able to wear them again, and I will be on the go all day so I need something that won't cripple me.

Can anyone please help?

I've been thinking silver shoes too, silver is part of the colour scheme.

I really am rubbish with shoes, I live in Docs usally, shoey shoes are alien to me.

The dress is similar to this

But the beading is silver and central with the pleated bit running down the fron t of the dress. Oh, and it has straps.

Silver sandals. There are always loads around, and if you choose something with a low-ish heel (which you can, because you're tall) you should be fine.

I'm sure that you'll look lovely. Gorgeous dress.

If you don't normally wear court shoes, think very carefully about wether you'd be happier in silver sandals.

I'm a SAHM who lives in boots and sandals, no way can I do posh shoes for a whole wedding or black tie ball, I have various sling backs and pretty sandals.

When DD2(11) was a bridesmaid, she and the brides sister and the bride had impractical stain jewelled heels for the ceremony and photos and pretty flip flops for later.

I'd go for silver.

The colour of the dress is similar to what my DD wore to her brothers wedding last September and whilst she was not BM she wanted to make an impact on the day,she choose silver sandals which had the smallest amount of elastic at the back just in case her feet swelled during the day they has lowish heel and she wore them a few times after to dress up her jeans, she also got a pack of silver hairclips for her hair with a flower design on the ends perfect result in the end.

I'm a bridesmaid in May and I'm wearing the shoes I bought for my own wedding. Wedding shoes are made with extra padding and to be comfy, you can also get them dyed. Mine are ivory but will be hidden under my dress (I also asked the bride to check she was ok with it!)

I have been desperate for an excuse to buy these for about a year, but still not found one! You should definitely get them OP Wink. I used to stock Rachel Simpson when I had a wedding dress business and they are gorgeous quality and very comfortable. Bit pricy for something a friend is paying for, but you could always go halves.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll invest in some silver ballet pumps too for the evening, just in case my feet are hurting as ther day goes on.
