What can I spend £400 worth of Karen Millen vouchers on?

hi

I have been given that amount in vouchers by my Dad but unfortunately he did not check with me and I never shop there.

I went in the store today and am usually a size 14 but can squeeze into their size 16. I thought I would buy a coat but their coats are hideous. No, that's not true, there are a couple of nice coats but I would never wear them (think light coloured felt coats, think 3 kids and a dog). They did have a padded jacket with a fur hood, it was £295!!!!!

Anyway, I wear scrubs all day, i'm a single parent, I have 3 kids and a dog, I never go out and have no cause to wear a cocktail dress or jumpers that are dry clean/handwash only.

Help!!!!

PS. I am grateful for the vouchers!

400 quid? wow

offloadingthisshit · 03/01/2014 10:00

PPS. Lots of things have faux leather on it which instore looked like cheap PVC and gold zips that were blingtastic....

Oh wow, you could send them to me? I love her stuff! Seriously, she does shoes too, maybe some shoes?

offloadingthisshit · 03/01/2014 10:08

There are some nice shoes but I just would never wear them :-/

ophiotaurus · 03/01/2014 10:08

A nice bag/pair of shoes?

ophiotaurus · 03/01/2014 10:09

Could your dad return them?

flowery · 03/01/2014 10:09

Sell the vouchers on eBay and buy something from somewhere else with the cash?

offloadingthisshit · 03/01/2014 10:27

I did ask about returning them but you can't. it is a gift card so is £400 on one card. Do people buy things like that on Ebay?

LaurieFairyCake · 03/01/2014 10:29

Yes, you might get fairly close to it on EBay - maybe £350 ish.

I too would struggle to buy anything from there, the shoes all have huge heels.

Ladyglamalot · 03/01/2014 10:35

Sell it on ebay-I loathe karen millen stuff too. Wagtastic!

WhoNickedMyName · 03/01/2014 10:36

Buy the padded jacket then - who cares if it was £295 - if you like it and you're not going to use the vouchers otherwise, then just get it.

How about some boots - there are a few flat or small heeled pairs. Or a couple of jumpers.

I got a £200 gift card from my FIL and spent it on boxing day no problem, even though I don't normally buy from Karen Millen. Grin

i don't think it's waggy, i always like the jeans, they seem to fit me really well, and the jumpers. you have to be a certain shape imo otherwise it won't look good.

agree with shoes some are lovely and comfortable for heel ime anyway.

\link{http://www.karenmillen.com/long-line-leather-jacket/limited-edition/karenmillen/fcp-product/026JS00401\this jacket is nice} though £50 over budget!

bettykt · 03/01/2014 10:44

I'm with Who it's a Christmas present and buy that expensive coat, that's what presents are for to buy those things you wouldn't normally buy. You're worth it and deserve a lovely new coat Smile

cloudskitchen · 03/01/2014 10:48

shoes or bags but definitely the coat :)

TSSDNCOP · 03/01/2014 10:51

You don't have to buy anything straight away, the KM gift cert is valid for 2 years.

Agree about their jeans, I have several pairs. They'll have nice summer t-shirts soon that aren't DC. Last year they had really nice sandals.

It was that coat and they don't have it my size now, but I think you could get similar from Asda for £50 Hmm

I don't like KM clothes at all, but their bags are brilliant. Buy 2 and you'll be using them for years to come.

WhoNickedMyName · 03/01/2014 10:55

If I had another £400 to spend I'd buy any of these..

Dress

Jumper

Coat

Boots

MadBusLady · 03/01/2014 10:56

But you don't have a £50 Asda voucher, so why do the calculation like that? Seriously, if you love it and it fitted well, buy it, as far as you're concerned it's free. If it wasn't perfect however, I'd wait for something else.

offloadingthisshit · 03/01/2014 10:56

I wish I had a John Lewis voucher and could buy a food processor.....lol!

OP posts:
offloadingthisshit · 03/01/2014 11:02

No, not perfect, just the most suitable thing from what was available.

WNMN, I agree, those are all lovely clothes but I would not wear them. I don't wear knitted things because they make me itch but, that aside, I go to work in jeans and a hoody, change into scrubs, wear jeans and hoody home. There is no point having expensive cloths as it they are hung up in communal staff change and either get thrown on the floor or nicked. On my days off I go walking with my dog in the woods wearing leggings and Dr Martens and raincoat, if I go out, it is to things like weddings so a rarity and I have a bazillion dresses to wear that I don't wear.

Cannot justify spending £400 on one item that I don't really like or things I wont wear. Will investigate the Ebay route, thanks for that advice :)

What MadBusLady says: it was a present; you can treat yourself!

But I feel your pain. I receive inappropriate vouchers sometimes and it's quite frustrating.

I like the jumper WhoNicked links to. Also this jumper, this one this one...

All quite practical.

Or just send 'em to me Grin

cosikitty · 03/01/2014 11:05

I would buy a handbag! Then I would spend the rest on some more basic items such as a top in the sale, or maybe a nice dress for an upcoming wedding etc!

newpup · 03/01/2014 12:22

I don't shop there either just have never been there. I love a couple of the handbags though, great investment. Coat lovely, treat yourself, that is what it is for.
