Fed up of black opaques! Patterned/coloured tights for chunky legs?

Those of you who don't have perfect legs do you get away with coloured or textured patterned tights? I am so so sick of black opaques that I would love to wear some cable patterned or coloured tights but my legs are very on the chunky side. Would it look ridiculous?

I have very chunky legs and I wear funky coloured/patterned tights all the time. If you're unsure, start off with darker colors like berry, navy and grey and go from there

What length skirts would you be wearing with them? I think black or grey patterned ones would be absolutely fine with a knee length skirt; less so with a mini.

Definately not mini's! All my skirts are knee or just above knee length. Mainly jersey tube, cord and dark denim, fairly fitted and not flared or A-line.

I would say patterned tights draw the eye to your legs, so unless you are OK with that, be careful.

Personally, I don't like them, unless worn with long boots, so there isn't much leg on show.

Tube and other fitted skirts will make chunky legs more obvious as it is so wearing patterened and coloured tights will just accentuate more.Which is fine if you are happy with that.

Personally though,I think coloured and textured tights need to be worn with a more a-line shape unless with a short mini and with the right look. They also look miles better with long boots and cables look adorable like that.

I love navy and grey tights. Also chunky here!

I am also the owner of chunky but shapely legs. Last month I bought myself two pairs of not black tights. One pair is a deep purple pattern knit and the other pair is a grey woolly pattern. I think both pairs look good with my black above knee skirt or my denim tunic dress. I am trying to escape from wearing jeans or leggings all the time.

I wear with my mid calf boots or my knee high boots. Both look good imo. Not sure it would look good with ballet flats though.

I almost always wear cotton cable patterned tights (Tesco) with mid thigh skirts. I think they are quite slimming as the pattern is up and down so makes my legs look slimmer. Alternatively I wear just wooly/cottony plain ones, but never opaques as I reckon they make my legs look a bit chunky, probably because they have a slight sheen to them.

I wear burnt orange, burgundy and teal tights. I am short with muscular legs but gets lots of compliments, especially when I wear the teal ones.
