I got an Epilator for Xmas.....where do you use yours?

My DP bought me the Braun silk epil skin spa for Xmas,he needed a present idea and I asked for one.
This one is very posh,it has an exfoliater attachment which looks good.
Does anyone have this or any other epilator for that matter?
Would you use it on your face/armpits or bikini line?I'm a bit nervous about using it in these places although it says you can Shock
I will definitely use it for my legs though.

I have epilated for years but really only do my legs. I do some of my bikini line but no where near what I would have done by waxing at the beautician. I can't do my face or underarms and I am a very hardened waxer/epilator!!

I would just get used to doing your legs first and make sure you use the right attachments - I have an older version of your Braun and it tells you which to start with.

FirstOnRecallDay · 29/12/2013 10:37

TMI but you need to be warned, I was doing my bikini line and the epilator sucked in my uh.. Fango. Confused The pain. Be careful!!

MrsHoolie · 29/12/2013 10:47

I will definitely stick to the legs and see how I get on. This epilator has a guard for sensitive bits, hopefully to stop you epilating your skin?!Argh...sounds horrendous!

I use for top lip. Hurts like hell but results last for ages. Oddly can't tolerate it under arms though.

Dippyeggsrock · 29/12/2013 10:55

I use mine for underarms and legs- I also had a fanjo accident!!! Shock

MrsHoolie · 29/12/2013 11:00

I am keen to do upper lip as I get that threaded and that hurts anyway, plus it adds up when you have to go every fortnight.
Seems like not many are successful in the fanjo area.

I got I grown hairs when I did my armpits which have scarred and look awful but my epilator is very old and wasn't designed for anywhere but legs. I do love it though.

IBelieveInPink · 29/12/2013 11:20

I do underarms. It takes Waaay to long to do legs!

Advice with underarms- let it, erm, grow a little. Not like a forest, just enough to let it grab easily.
Then, plan do to it across 2 evenings. It HURTS! If yours can be used in the shower this will help. If it can't, maybe sit in the bath so you can give your underarms a little break every now and then.
However, once you have done it once, it so much easier! Keep on top of the regrowth and you will hardly feel it (compared to the first time anyway) and the results last ages :)

Helpyourself · 29/12/2013 11:23

In the bathroom. Xmas Wink

Not really- I don't have one as I suffer dreadfully from ingrowing hairs- so I'm generally hairy with occasional shaving, the alternative is spotty.

CointreauVersial · 29/12/2013 11:31

I do legs, and very occasionally bikini line.

I warn you, bikini line epilating is agony. I have drawn blood on a couple of occasions. There is a very real risk of dragging in more bits than you intend to.

Legs is fine, though.

Never tried underarms; I think it would be rather awkward.

StarsAbove · 29/12/2013 11:32

I only do underarms now, used to do a Brazilian and never had any accidents, but I had extensive repairs after DD was born and don't want to look!

NuzzleandScratch · 29/12/2013 11:36

I've epilated my underarms, bikini line and legs for years, and it hardly even hurts anymore. Love how long it lasts!

SuperiorCat · 29/12/2013 11:55

Legs when can be bothered, I don't do pits and bits as too painful.

I have hairier hands and forearms than DH so mostly use my epilator for them.

CuntyBunty · 29/12/2013 11:56

You beat me to it, helpyourself, I was going to say, "In Bristol".

scripsi · 29/12/2013 14:08

I am thinking of getting this one OP but have nothing useful to add
(what is the exfoliating thing like if I may ask?)

DoingItForMyself · 29/12/2013 14:12

I use it for all of those.

Be warned, first time it hurt quite a lot, but gradually less sensitive. Armpits makes my eyes water and actually bled the first time Shock but again, much better after a couple of goes.

Trickiest is fanjo, I tidy up the edges but it always gets tangled up in the bits I want to leave and then it cuts out Blush

I also get a few ingrown hairs to make sure to exfoliate well in between times and perhaps do a proper close shave once a month or so to take off the top layer of skin!

CuntyBunty · 29/12/2013 14:21

Be careful in the vulval area. My epilator grabbed hold of a pissflap and almost engulfed it in the roller.

scripsi · 29/12/2013 14:39

what is it like on facial hair, not just on top lip? I have blonde facial hair which is getting bushier by the day.

MrsHoolie · 29/12/2013 17:16

The exfoliater brush is supposed to be used a couple of days before you epilate to prepare the skin. It claims to be four times more effective than a body scrub and it can be used in the shower.

OP posts:
scripsi · 29/12/2013 17:34

it sounds like those clarisonic brushes (which I haven't tried tbh). I do get through a lot of body scrub so perhaps it would be a useful investment.

MrsHoolie · 29/12/2013 17:58

Except you're not supposed to use it on the face. It doesn't seem that harsh though tbh.

OP posts:
scripsi · 29/12/2013 18:09

Might have to stick to facial scrubs if I get it, I know that clarisonics can cause problems if used every day for some people, though reading some reviews there was someone using the exfoliation attachment of this epilator on their face with great results IIRC.
Have you tried it yet OP?

MisForMumNotMaid · 29/12/2013 18:59

My armpits are the best they've ever been since I felt brave after two large glasses of wine and made my first attempt. It took a lot longer the first time to do them than now. Its a quick go over about twice a week for smooth, spot free, armpits.

I do my legs but not quite as often as i should. I'm obviously not as well dehaired as many on the thread because i just do the edge of the bikini area to keep things tidy.

I do top lip too. It does make my eyes water so I do it on a weekend after my Friday/ Saturday glass of wine before bed as i have very sensitive skin and any redness is gone by the morning.

MrsHoolie · 29/12/2013 19:00

Not yet,we have been at my parents house all week but I intend to give the entire thing and all attachments a good go in the comfort and privacy of my own home!
