What's more wearable? Ruched skirt or ruched dress...?

More me and em angst! Am deliberating between the grey skirt and the navy dress. But is a navy dress with navy tights & heels, a bit, well, John Lewis sales person...?

Funny how I'm happy to do head to toe black but can't get my head round navy the same way.

Have looked on Pinterest but can't see any inspiration or solutions there. Useless.

Any ideas?

When do you want to wear it? I have the grey box pleat ruched skirt and have tried the cowl neck dress. For me, the grey skirt is a revelation for weekends as can wear with loads of my weekend jumpers and it's just a welcome change from jeans. The dress I felt was too dressy for weekend, but it's not right for work for me. If it's the all navy thing you're worried about, navy with tan shoes or boots is great, and navy with black is also now deemed to be chic!

Thanks brillenbar. I was wanting to use it for both work and play. The skirt probably is more versatile but it's Irritating how the dress is £20 cheaper than the skirt too!

I have them both too, op and, for me, the skirt is far more versatile as I can wear it pretty much anywhere, dress it up or down plus it doesn't need washing as often! However, if you have a job where you are expected to dress smartly at all times (I don't) then you might get more wear from the dress.

I have both and the revelation for me is wearing the dress as a skirt too (with a sweater on top!)

So in that case is say the dress is more flexible

Is it the cowl dress Gilly, or something more streamlined? May have bought cowl dress in forest......

Financeprincess · 29/12/2013 14:29

The skirt is more adaptable. Hard to layer things over a cowl neck dress, plus the skirt part of the dress isn't as nice as the actual skirt.

My dress was from the summer range so had a crew neck, easier to layer over I guess?

I've got both, and would echo that the skirt is more weekend appropriate, as well as being work friendly (and dicks all over the Baukjen version which I also have), but I also like wearing their dresses for work, hence kept both.

I have a few navy dresses (it so entires feels like my uniform!), and tend to wear black tights and shoes.

Can anyone tell me what the sizing is like please? I really want the navy dress, I'm a 16 so don't know whether to go 16-18 or to size down [optimistic].

I like burgandy or red shoes with navy.
