For my Christmas dh booked me into a spa for : salt and oil scrub , full body massage , facial and head massage . My question is : if I have St Tropez spray or mousse in will it survive it ? We are going for dinner and a show after it and I cannot go out without fake tan on Blush that's bad I know Sad

Also , my parents got me an IPL machine . I know it takes several treatments to work fully but after I do it will I go smooth then grow in again ? So I could do it before down thing like I would wax ?

I know this post makes me sound really vain but I promise I'm not !! Grin The IPL is actually for my chin as I am really hairy Blush and the tan is just because I have such horrible pasty skin I look terrible without and and can't even get make up to match my skin tone . Sad

The tan most definitely not survive that! Can you put on an instant one?

ALittleBitOfChristmasMagic · 26/12/2013 19:23

No instant won't work for me . I have weird skin GrinGrin I can only use St tropez mousse or spray and nothing else . I really didn't think it would survive and the thought of going on a night out without it fills me with fear Blush that is so bad I need to get a grip . Or a tan Grin

I'm sure the IPL machine will work better without a tan as well. They advise to shave before using it rather than wax. My sister has had most of her face done professionally and that is what she had to do.

Yeah that's fine I can survive without tan for a few days to do the IPL . It comes off my face really quickly anyway so that's not a problem . But what I'm thinking is if I use the machine will I have the same short term result a wax would give straight away ? I know it takes months to get a more long term reduction but sure the day after I will still be smooth ?

I'm a beauty therapist. The mousse maybe there a little bit but it depends on how thorough the therapist is. Maybe apply it every night for 2/3 nights so you're darker than you would normally be.
Tbh you'll probably want to rest/sleep after your spa day as believe me lazing by a pool can really wear you out!!
I've not heard that great results from home ipl machines. Salon treatments are better ie the machines are better. I'm not selling salons I just know home hair removal gadgets really don't work. Personally I would take back the machine get your money back and put it towards proper ipl treatment. Hth.

You will need to shave the area before the IPL and continue to shave any re-growth, you shouldn't wax in between sessions. You won't have the smoothness after IPL that you would have after a wax as it doesn't actually remove the hairs.

I have a home IPL machine (Phillips) which I use on my face, underarms and legs. It definitely does work for me. I have fair skin and dark hair, which apparently is the best combination in order for it to work.

you can go out without fake tan
