John Lewis newborn size for 8-9lb baby?

I'm expecting my 3rd baby soon. My other two were 8lb5 and 8lb8 (both 54cm long) at birth. I expect this baby to be about the same.
I put them both in 0-3 from the start but decided to get a couple of newborn things from JL this time. They say they are up to 9lb and 56cm. Looking at them now I'm not convinced they are going to fit and considering swapping them for 0-3.
Has anyone got experience of JL newborn size please?
Thank you!

I imagine JL sizes about same as everyone else's.

Good fitting clothes insulate better so I like them fitting just perfect for first few weeks before moving on (2 of DC were born about 8lb 10 oz).
As long as you haven't bought 16 outfits when you only realistically need 3-5, then I would keep some at the newborn size.

I would just buy the basic white babygrows. Think they are £12-15 for 5 from John Lewis.

Thanks. I've got a pack of three White babygros and 3 white vests and two nicer babygros
