WWYD...been sent an extra pair of boots by retailer???

I ordered myself & my DH boots online from a reputable retailer, they arrived a couple of weeks ago. However yesterday I received another pair of my style only (identical)! No additional money has been taken from my bank account for them. When I go on my order history for retailer it just shows the one order but says status is processing. Surely that should be status - completed. I've never bought from them before so only assuming they'd change status once all dispatched/not returned etc. I had to sign for both pairs of boots when delivered. I'm now left wondering whether another pair of DH will arrive in post tomorrow! My gut instinct says contact them & send them back but friends I've told have said to hold on to them till New Year, if no contact from retailer or money taken from account then ebay them!!! They are expensive boots (£250). WWYD with them?? I'll probably send them back, just curious really!! Ta x

Contact the retailer.

SanityClause · 22/12/2013 22:21

I would contact them, and explain what's happened, but ask for them to arrange to collect the extra boots, or at the very least, pay you for P&P.

Keeping them would be dishonest, but there doesn't seem to be any reason why you should be inconvenienced by their mistake.

Ziggyzoom · 22/12/2013 22:23

I had similar happen when I ordered a coffee maker. I rang them and they sent me a £30 voucher for being so honest. So I had good karma and £30!

LaurieFairyCake · 22/12/2013 22:23

Get them to collect, it cost me £13 to send the last pair of boots back.

They need to send a prepaid return at the very least.

bubbakin · 22/12/2013 22:42

Thank you, I will contact them tomorrow & request collection! X

Of course you know what the right thing to do is without asking us. If you sell them you won't get full price and then what happens three months down the line if they chase you . It's not worth it is it especially as you signed for them . I bought new uggs from office the other day , they were £235 and jut left on my doorstep . I'm sure some people would try and claim thy hadn't received them but I think on the whole they expect us to be honest . You will probably get a thank you voucher.

MagnifyingGlassSearch · 23/12/2013 13:59

Do the right thing
and you know what that is

Pandsbear · 23/12/2013 15:24

Of course you tell the retailer - am sure they will send you a pre-paid returns label.

holycowwhatnow · 23/12/2013 18:42

I would absolutely tell the retailer and would wait for them to send me a prepaid return. I definitely wouldn't keep them - that would be theft imo.

FourAndDone · 23/12/2013 18:51

Yes tell them, otherwise it WILL come back on you AND they have proof as you signed for them. if you hadn't signed I may give you completely different advice Blush

OatcakeCravings · 23/12/2013 18:54

They might be my boots!! Still waiting, been dispatched and delivered but not to me. If they are from Duo send them on! :-)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/12/2013 18:58

Did you contact the retailer, OP?

peasandlove · 23/12/2013 20:08

I would ring them and ask them to collect. I once got a double delivery from Crabtree and evelyn and they let me keep the 2nd lot as wasnt worth them sorting it out

FourAndDone · 24/12/2013 17:23

Sooo whatcha do?Smile

valiumredhead · 24/12/2013 20:21

I would keep them as would anyone else I know. Only on MN do people send things back when they get double ordersGrin

NigellasDealer · 24/12/2013 20:23

same here valiumredhead MN is a parallel universe sometimes.

RedPencilPot · 24/12/2013 21:04

What dishonest friends you have!

Course you should send them back!

Get a pre paid label and do the right thing!

valiumredhead · 24/12/2013 21:08

Only on mumsnetWink

hollyisalovelyname · 25/12/2013 22:33

I'd contact the retailer and get them to pay for return postage or pick up

holidaysarenice · 25/12/2013 22:44

I once got a single instead of double replacement electric blanket. When I rang them they said to keep it, and sent the double one as well!!

SillyMillyOnAHilly · 25/12/2013 23:26

I want to know what happened too Xmas Smile

nosleeptilever · 25/12/2013 23:53
