Shoes to wear with grey tights?

I have bought this dress to wear on Christmas Day. Googling leads me to believe that grey tights are the recommended leg wear but what shoes? Any guidance on colour/style etc? Otherwise I will just not wear any shoes and refuse to leave the house.

Bum. How about Despatch this. Normally I would agree but as we are going to my mother's for Christmas, there will have to be some outing at some point otherwise we shall all suffocate under a mountain of opinions regurgitated from the Daily Mail.

Ah yes, that's exactly the Christmas we'll be having too but that means wellies, or at the very least your regular comfy boots in the afternoon

I wouldn't wear grey tights with that either. I'd probably wear it over skinny jeans or navy leggings.

But I googled it and it said grey tights so I went out specially and bought them.
Am fecking clueless about these things. Which is probably why I wear so many blue and white stripy tops.

I'd wear navy tights. But then I wear navy tights with everything. I reckon you could wear converse actually!
If your grey tights go with the navy dress then surely navy shoes would go with the tights.

If it's casual then converse would be fine with it.
It sounds very casual to me for Christmas day but different families do different dress codes.

I think navy shoes would be fine with the grey tights - but as others have said, I'd probably wear navy tights or dark navy skinnies with it.

In the pic the model's wearing faded skinnies, which I think look too scruffy with that dress.

As an aside, DD's friend (16) cane round today, wearing a navy dress with cream spots, grey thick tights and tan loafers, which looked a great combination but is one I'd never have thought would work - so what do I know?
