Do makeup counter people ask you 'Do you usually wear foundation?'

It seems like every time I'm at a makeup counter getting some advice, they ask 'do you usually wear foundation' - even if the product isn't foundation related. I can't work out if they can see I'm wearing it and want to know if I wear it every day, OR whether they think I'm not wearing any and are of the opinion that I should!

I am always wearing it, but only lightly because I don't like the made-up look, even though it means my skin doesn't look 'perfect'. So what do they mean and does anyone else get this too?

I just think they are trying to flog anything and everything. I also think they try and encourage everybody to be as caked as them.

I do remember the Bobbi Brown woman who told me under my eyes was horrific and then tried to flog me stuff. Ummm.... Thanks for calling me horrific and you certainly aren't going to flog me stuff (or earn commission) with sales tactics like that.
