Could my Ted Baker dress be fake?

I've just bought a charity shop bargain Ted Baker dress. The label was still attached, showing the sale price at £120 and I paid £35 for it. But there are a couple of puzzles.

1. It has a button missing, but there is no spare button bag attached to the dress.

1. I tried to find an image of it online, but cannot find one at all! Now, I know it'll not be this season, but I can usually find dress pics on eBay or similar.

Could it be a fake?

Could be, but does it matter if you like it?

Does'nt really matter, I love the colour and it's perfect for dancing in, so I'm just getting my detective's magnifying glass out! I wouldnt be returning it or anything, should have made that clear.....

The spare button could just be missing. I suppose it could be a fake but as Broken said, if you like it then it doesn't matter.

Just a few things, really.

1. If I later decide to eBay it, I wouldn't want to make false claims.
2. I'd like to learn if there are some ways of spotting fakes.
3. It might help in locating a replacement button!

But I'm going to enjoy twirling around in it for a while.

Does the label name the dress?

Never heard of there BEING Ted Baker fakes actually - is this a thing? I'd imagine there are so many designs that to copy one in particular would be a bit daft and take loads of effort!

iyswim? Bags maybe, but dresses, well I can't imagine it.

Maybe it was a store return - or from somewhere like TKMaxx where things randomly have bits missing!

The ted baker in the outlet has a samples rail. It could've be from there?

I wouldn't have thought ted baker was a prestigious enough brand to warrant faking?

I don't think brands have to be particularly prestigious to have fakes produced. I have seen fake French Connection, Hollister, Nike, Adidas, none of which are particularly pricy.

There are loads of fake GHD's around as well.

Do highstreet brands get faked? It might just be a second quality item.

What does it look like? Can you post a picture?

Well I was looking for a picture to post to a friend, and struggling to find one online. I usually manage to find pics of clothes that I can add to a Pinterest board, which handily gives me a view of my wardrobe.

I changed into it for an evening drinks reception, and I'm very glad I did, for photos and networking. So it was a serendipitous purchase!

Can you take a pic of the dress and post it to see if anybody recognises it from internet browsing or shopping trips?

Call ted baker and give them the style number and see if they can send you a spare button. They'll tell you if it's not one of theirs I'm sure.

Good idea - they had a very helpful "live chat" window, which informed me that yes they do replacement buttons, and I've emailed them the details. Many thanks for all your suggestions!

I don't recognise it but I think it's a lovely dress. Enjoy wearing it and I hope TB are able to help you out with buttons! Actually, not sure of anybody has said this unthread, but TB clothes have clear style numbers on the label?
