Cover-up thingy for 50s style sarong dress?

Please help me! I'm going to a posh dinner at a hotel with DH for his work's post-Xmas thing. I'll be wearing this dress with black micronet stockings and shoes like these but in black.

I tend to feel the cold a bit, and am quite busty, so some sort of wrap/cover-up would probably be advisable. I like black, cool reds, purples, blues, and greens, and also sparkly things. I don't wear such things often, so a cheap "one season special" from ebay would probably be the best idea.

I'd prefer a shawl over a bolero/similar, but can't trust myself to find something that won't look dated!

In case it's relevant, I have long, dark brown hair, pale olive skin, dark browny-greeny eyes, and a short but slim hourglass figure. The only bits I particularly want to distract attention away from are my boobs, for the sake of politeness...

Oh, and also I'm in my early 20s.

furry wrap?

Do you often wear shawls and wraps? I find I get in a mess with them at the table when I've not had one on for a while. But, that might just be me Blush

this would work.

this or this with red lipstick would be prefect and lovely, but probably over budget.

CremolaFirCone · 19/12/2013 00:20

MrsL that femme fatal scarf is perfect.
Just gorgeous.Smile

Yeah, it really is.
Quite fancy one myself.

Thank you - those are all much nicer than anything I found! Apologies for the delay in replying, I have a dodgy internet connection this evening.

Cremola - I've wanted a lovely warm, soft, furry one for years but my DH has a Thing about them, and I know he'd get all funny if I wore one to his work thing... Sad Thanks for the idea though, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person who disagrees with DH on the subject!

MrsLettuce - The femme fatal scarf would go best with my skin tone (and yes, definitely red lipstick Grin ) so I think I may have to stretch the budget a little bit! And will definitely be practicing my shawl-at-the-table etiquette this Christmas, using one of my horrible old scarves, as I am similarly afflicted... Thanks!

Now, if you don't mind me asking a further question: how does one wear a wrap these days? I've read that the mid-noughties "pashmina as elbow-crook-warmer" look was laid to rest along with Sex And The City? Blush I have some shawl pins and a pretty brooch, if that helps at all!
