Do you have any family/inhereted jewellery?

Inspired by the signet ring thread...

I used to have the most beautiful gold ring with a big coral on it inhereted from my Sicillian great aunt...then my student house got burgled, and poof went my jewellery box :(

I always like it when my mum lets me borrow her jewellery - lots of lovely silver and coloured glass stuff from when her brother went to India in the '70s.

I think I'll definitely keep my few bits of real jewellery and then give them to my (as yet imaginary) daughters when they turn 21.

My engagement ring used to be my mums.

Its almost identical to Kate's/ Diana's.

I used to wear my DM's engagement ring, but when I got engaged for real, bitch took it back and gave it to my sister. Grin

I also have a Kate/Diana ring that belonged to my Grandma, I wear it lots .

I have a string of pearls that used to belong to a great-aunt.

i have passed some pieces on already to my daughters - it seems daft hanging on to it when the young are so much prettier. It is of more joy to me to see the jewellery being worn than to know it is in a vault somewhere.

I have my grandmothers and great grandmothers engagement rings and a number of other bits, including wedding rings and mourning rings.

I have a huuuuuge heart shaped diamond set into a pendant, very kitsch and blingtastic, with crossed ruby arrows and a diamond tassel thing underneath. Inherited from my grandmother about 30 years ago. I absolutely adore it, and try and wear it on special occasions. It is worth about £5k so I am nervous wearing it out anywhere.

Nothing of real value, but to me-priceless. My dm recently died and her jewellery box was like going back to my childhood. My favourites are some silver bits that my df had made in the war whilst in Gibraltar that have photos of him and my grandparents in, her beloved crystal necklace and brooch and some jet beads, which I wore with pride to my works do. (They still smelt of her)

I have my grandmas emerald and diamond engagement ring ( sort of a green version of the Kate / Diana ring
My Mums pearl engagement ring and some other bits of hers
A lovely pearl evening watch and some other bits of my aunts

My granny's brothers were all jewellers and all bar one died in the first war. I have a piece made by a great great uncle which is absolutely beautiful and so carefully made.

I have my parents' wedding rings (they divorced years ago) and my mums engagement ring. I wear them regularly. I also have bracelets from my grandmother (from Aden, no hallmark- very heavy) and a beautiful silver purse on a chain from my godmother. Doubt any of it is worth much, but I like having them.

An eternity ring and a platinum wedding ring from my grandma because they don't fit her any more, and don't fit my mum :) Lucky.

I have a ring with a cameo on that used to belong to my grandmother. My granddad wedding ring and a broach with a diamond on that's my initial as my grandmother had the same initial although different name.

None of it is particularly valuable and I don't wear them but I like having them and will pass them on to the dc when they are old enough.

I have a wide and patterned silver hinged bangle which was my great great grandmothers and is stamped 1883, I get lots of lovely comments. I also have my grandmothers full eternity ring which is simply stunning, diamonds and triangular sapphires. I love both pieces, I never say they're "mine" I genuinely feel they're merely passing through my hands to dd and onwards. I have some smaller pieces too.

However, I do also realise they're my memories, if dd wants to sell them in the future I'll be ok with that.

I have my grandma's (dads mum) Victorian ring, my mum remembers my great grandma wearing it. When grandma died (about 9 years ago now) mum asked if I would like any jewellery, she also gave me her locket.

My grandad (mums dad) gave me a ring that belonged to my grandma. Mum remembers him buying it (maybe early 60's) and my grandma said she couldn't understand why he had been so extravagant and frivolous and she gave it back to him. He never produced it again until I would say about 6 years ago when one Easter he came here to lunch and he asked if I would like the ring. It is a platinum band with diamonds set in going half way round.

I also have a gold bracelet that my mum was given for her 15th birthday - she gave it to me when I was 15.

I have 7 engagement and wedding rings from mum, gran and great aunts. I am not sure whose is whose though, ( except my mum's) so they don't feel sentimental. I have thought about selling them as they are proper bling, but wouldn't know what to do with the money. I have thought about melting them down etc and having something made too. It's easier just leaving them in the back of the wardrobe!

I have a v unusual gold and ruby ring my DGF gave DM (his eldest) when I (her eldest) was born, and she gave me when DS (my eldest) was born.

I wish I did!! My paternal grandmother was far too sensible for such fripperies Shock and my maternal grandmother was too poor to have much. My father didn't buy my mother jewellery, either (she doesn't care for it Shock). I, on the other hand, adore jewellery. My MIL is permanently jewellery shopping so she has enough good bling to hand down to our 3 DDs [punches the air for lucky DDs]. Maybe I am MILs daughter, rather than DMs? I genuinely don't understand how one could not care for jewellery. Diamonds make my heart beat faster.

Yes, I have a diamond eternity ring that belonged to my granny and a emerald and diamond ring that was my other granny's engagement ring. I love both and enjoy wearing them.

My great grandmother's wedding ring & my grandmother's cameo earrings & brooch. All inherited and will be passed on to DD.

DH has a medal belonging to his long deceased grandfather and his Dad's wedding ring (also deceased).

My mum has some lovely (and valuable) stuff that I suppose will find it's way to me/DD when the time comes. Hopefully not for a long while yet, she's sub-sixty

I have my Nan's gold locket which has old black and white photos of her parents (my great grandparents) in. You can see the small pieces of card she cut out years ago to put behind and make them fit.
I never wear it but she was never without it on and it holds so many fond memories.

I have my nan's, my mum's and my dad's wedding rings, another couple of my nan's rings, my mum's eternity ring, and a few other small bits. I wear my mum's wedding ring on my right hand 24/7 and will do until I die.
