Anyone want to share their Christmas Day outfits?

I am hosting this year and would like to make an effort but also be practical for crawling around the floor playing with a toddler and cooking in.

Anyone want to share theirs to give me inspiration?

Here we celebrate with a big formal dinner on the night of the 24th, then a big lunch on the 25th. (No boxing day here). No-one has a big enough house to host Christmas this year, so we're renting a gîte for the week for DH, me, our 6 kids (ages 10-20), my parents and MIL + her DP. I'm cooking, so can't spend hours getting ready and it's in the middle of nowhere, so no hairdressers etc nearby...

For the Tuesday evening, I'm planning to wear this dress. Haven't made up my mind about shoes yet.

And for the Wednesday lunch, I've ordered this skirt, which I'm hoping will turn up in time. I have a lovely black top which should go perfectly with it, which I bought about 12 years ago, but still looks amazing. Black tights and black sparkly ballet pumps, as not planning to leave the house that day.

Thinking about it, our hosts have two cats which I'm not going to be able to not cuddle, so the red dress I linked might be a bit too delicate for Xmas day.

I might go with this jumpsuit, which I've had for ages and isn't too delicate. I've changed the gold buttons to black sparkly ones and will wear with black opaques and black suede ballet flats.

This red top from Next with black skinnies. Chilled day with my DSis and families.

Was meant to be working xmas day and have managed to wangle the day off so am determined to spend the whole day relaxed.

Heathcliff27 · 18/12/2013 11:46

2mad, i love that top btw

FoxMulder · 18/12/2013 11:49

I would feel a bit weird sitting around the house all dressed up.

Queenofknickers · 18/12/2013 11:50

Comfy skinnies, Xmas jumper and deeply naff but I don't care Santa flashing earrings!!!

Walnut8 · 18/12/2013 12:08

I love that you all get dressed up. Will be warm over here (original forecast was 30 but looks now more like 25 degrees) so I will be wearing white denim skirt and v flattering black warehouse zip tee I bought recently.

Walnut8 · 18/12/2013 12:10

Although last time I wore the white skirt my one yr old destroyed it within minutes .... maybe crop skinnies (or my j brands if I get them for chrissie as hoped!)

ditavonteesed · 18/12/2013 12:11

I will ostly be wearing these as I am working nights. (assuming santa brings them to me)

Kikithecat · 18/12/2013 12:42
