What underwear to wear with a very low backed mini dress.

Hi.,
My new man has bought me a dress.
It is gorgeous but I never go bra less and this has a very low back.
I can't post a link as it was from a boutique style shop and the very last one.
It is figure hugging too so would like to buy some firm control knickers, but not ones with long legs, or very high waisted.

It has sleeves so I could get away with a full type bra at the front.

Hope this all makes sense!

Please help someone, I'm too saggy to go bra less I think!

What bra size are you - using this guide:

Hi I think I'm a 32d x

In all my days I've never found a bra that would let me wear a low backed dress. (34DD)

SorrelForbes · 17/12/2013 22:26

Is that using the measuring guide linked to above? If so then you're lucky as you're fairly small busted which gives some options.

There are stick on cups that you can buy online or in M&S, La Senza Etc. Which will give you some lift and support. Alternatively there are multi way bras which can be done up to give a very low back. Lastly, you could look at a basque/body as some are very low cut. I think bravissimo do one.

Hi just used the guide above and think I am a 31 (32/30)E.

Will have a look at M&S and La Senza stick on cups I think.

Be prepared to go braless, if necessary, especially if you are going dancing. I had a wardrobe malfunction with my stick on bra.

Financeprincess · 17/12/2013 23:30

JML (yes, that JML) do a good stick on, but I'm only a B cup. Think it might struggle with anything larger (4/3 pi r cubed; small increase in lateral measure = large volume increase).

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/12/2013 08:07

I saw something on Pinterest which I thought was genius.

Sew just the cups of a cheap/ old bra in the front of the dress so its like a built in bra without the back.

Not sure how practical it is in real life but looked like a really obv solution.

dexter73 · 18/12/2013 08:10

A friend of mine bought a dress with a very low back. She ended up taking it back as she couldn't find a bra that went with it, and the stick on cups are pretty useless for anything bigger than a B. They are tricky if you can't go braless.

tinselkitty · 18/12/2013 08:14

Might need to just go with nipple daisies.

I had prior to bfing 28DDs and would got braless with some dresses and tops. They were much perkier then though. Not quite sure what you could do if they're not so perky anymore

wonkylegs · 18/12/2013 08:25

Try backless bras or you could try a converter strap which converts your normal bra to a low back.
a different version here from bravissamo.
Lots of solutions here for matching bras with different cuts of clothes.
And lots of solutions from Ultimo

Dollydowser · 18/12/2013 08:28

There are some examples of those straps on ebay.

Swallowedbyasnake · 18/12/2013 08:33

I have an ultimo backless body (not the one linked to, an older style) and I love it

SorrelForbes · 18/12/2013 08:37

Please all, bear in mind that cup size is relative to band. A B in a 28 is not the same volume as a B in a 34 and so on. Therefore, manufacturers of the stick on cups saying a B cup or a DD cup is meaningless really!

feelingvunerable · 19/12/2013 18:20

Went to town yesterday and there was no late night shopping for either M&S or la Senza!

Tried routing out an old bra with clear straps and forgot the straps had broken so I decided to do as Housewife suggested and sew it into the dress!
It is just the front of the bra so hopefully it will be ok.

Ordinarily I wouldn't have chosen the dress myself, I'd go more boring! But my new man loves me in it so I'll give it a whirl.

Just had a look at the low back converter and it isn't low enough.
Also bought a pair of tummy control knickers and oily leg tights!

At this rate it would have been easier to have a dress made but what the hell!

FGS don't start the relationship dressing to please him. He wants you to go out half dressed, and look what a palaver it is for you behind the scenes to find underwear that you can wear with it!

Eminybob · 19/12/2013 18:35

I found a backless body shaping body with inbuilt bra on very. I think it was a holly willoughby one.

thenightsky · 19/12/2013 18:47

Oh my lord!!! that backless body on very.co.uk is what I've been search for for bloody years!
