Anybody know anything about the UV lamps for doing gel nails?

What's the best one to buy?

I've been looking at the 54w ones. Are these good enough for home use?

Or would a 12w LED one be better?

Any help greatly appreciated. Last minute Christmas shopping gone screwy

Depends on the gel. Shellac will only dry under a UV lamp (36 watt) - I got mine for £15 off eBay but Amazon sell them too.

Other gels - Gelish etc - will dry under LED, which is faster. I have a little LED lamp which came with my Sensationail set and that dries Gelish, OPI etc as well.

I don't know about the lamps but have tried most of the polishes and found the Cuccio ones to be the best and longest lasting. Gelish the worst

In contrast to Janie, I find Gelish the best - most long-lasting and best range of colours IMO.

Shellac is next best. OPI crap as it "shrinks" away from the bottom and edges of your nail as it cures.
