Rather expensive dress and hand washing!!

I've bought a rather lovely anglomania dress.. And it needs washing . The label says 94% acetate 6% elastin. Hand wash. It really did need a wash after a great night out...... I've already out it on a hand wash inside a pillow case, just looking for reassurance/drying ideas/further care. At present it's lying in a towel so as not to stretch !!

How can you 'put it on a hand wash' ?

It was the Utah glitter drape dress. I've already washed it so please don't say don't to!!!!!

My machine has a hand wash cycle.

I would have done the same as you, OP. Hopefully it'll be fine.

Excellent . TobyLerone. Thanks. Stupid to worry........

To me, 'hand wash' means just that - it doesn't mean machine wash even if it has a gentle setting. However, that's a bit late to worry about at this stage! Drying flat is probably the best option in terms of stretching etc - if I'm drying a jumper I make sure that its got a good amount of support so it doesn't stretch.

Mind you, I would have thought that material mix should be fine being washed. If it had had silk or wool you might have had other issues.

I hope

Mistelthrush... That's the advice I was looking for!!! I know that the manufacturers are always over cautious . I've washed previous Westwood cotton dresses by the same way (recommended by dress shop), but they never get clean by proper hand washing . Just asking for some practical non manufacturer(non realistic ) advice, if that makes sense

It's lying quietly on a towel..... Ready for its next night out!
