Can any recommend some boots, similar to Merrell Taiga but cheaper?

After all the ice and snow we had last year, I had made up my mind I was going to buy some Merrell Taiga (or perhaps another of the Merrell Winter/Snow boot range) for school runs and dog walking this winter. Unfortunately, due to some unforseen expenditure involving dogs and vets, I now find myself unable to afford them.

I don't want to end up leaving it until the last minute and being caught out in the snow and ice with only my wellies to wear, but despite lots of searching haven't managed to come up with anything even vaguely similar for less £££s. I've found the occasional pair in sales here and there, but never in my size (7).

I considered just buying a pair of muck-boots for now, but want something smarter - if that makes sense? I don't want Ugg boot style, as I need some degree of ankle support, but equally don't want laces, as I'd like something I can just grab and pull on quickly when I realise I'm already late for the school run. Blush Oh - and I am of the wider calf persuasion, which means, nothing knee high or higher calf. The Taiga style boots really met all of my criteria and I am more than a tad p'd off that I can't have a pair. Hmm

I can probably do up to about £100 at a push, but would prefer a little less if possible.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for decent alternatives?

Have a look on www.fieldandtrek.com
They do the merrell Taiga for £90. Otherwise there are several other snow boots. The Nevica Jasper are nice looking and £54.99.
If you've set your heart on the merrell's then I'd try and find them at a price you're prepared to pay.

I have merrell Oslo and Clark's snow boots and they are both equally cosy. Clark's are sure to have something waterproof and cosy for a bit less than Merrell. If you wait until the January sales you can generally get something for between £30-40 in Clarks

Thank you so much Pinkpiglet! I have found them on Field and Trek and dh has offered to pay half for Christmas, so will be ordering them this evening. Grin

rowingboat, thank you for your suggestions. I did go and have a look at Clark's website, but couldn't find any that I liked. Think I'm suffering from that thing when you've seen what you want and then nothing ever matches up.
