was in next today and lady next to me at the till had on a lovely long navy coat (id say mid thigh length). It was padded with quilting detail all over the the quilting was pointing downwards at angles, if that makes sense. It had a cream/beige fur lining in the hood and the edge of the hood had a trim on it, belt was navy with gold fitings and it had gold buttons with something written on them but i couldnt see.

I was just about to ask her where she had got it from when the lady serving me started talking about her heating bills to me or something and by the time id turned around again she had gone.

Ive been searching for months for a nice parka and this was it. I dont normally do fancy coats, normally whatever asda or tescos has to offer but really want this coat for my christmas present now. Truly grateful for anyone who can help me find it or even make sense of my description Smile

Quilting pointing downward sounds like lands end ... I have a gorgeous padded coat from Zara which is similar but not pointing downwards. www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/coats/three-quarter-length-anorak-c269183p1324419.html

bishboschone · 10/12/2013 13:27

There are some with pointing down stitching on the website though.

Thankyou so much for looking, that coat is very very similar to the one i saw, but it was definitley pointing downwards, will have a look on lands end now, can i ask though im a size 14 would that zara coat make me look massive? thats the only thing i find with padded coats i feel huge in them and need a belt at least to draw it in a bit, thanks!

Zara comes up very small be warned .. You would prob need xxl as I had to buy xl and I'm size 10-12 .. It's fitted and I don't think it's unflattering . I always have padded coat as I hate being cold ... Why not order it and see . Can you let me know if you find the one you saw . It sounds lovely .

bishboschone · 10/12/2013 13:45

My Zara one does have a belt so you can draw your waist in as
Much as you like.

Vix1980 · 10/12/2013 13:52

thanks, for all i know its probably the same coat! Its the same type of belt, same gold buttons thats look like they have something written on them, same type of trim on the hood, i just remember staring at the hood and it had the trim on but looked like it was a proper hood not a fold away type. It looked as if the fur lining filled the inside of the hood whereas the 1 on the picture looks like it just sticks up a bit.

Ive not long got in from town, im going to have to go back tomorrow now as it will bug me if i dont go and look at it! thankyou again! Smile ill still keep searching though, just in case!

this though quilting not point down
when you say point down does that mean like diamond shaped quilting?

Vix1980 · 10/12/2013 14:00

Hi, i mean the quilting at an angle so from armit to the front hem pointing downwards at an angle. does that make sense. I do appreciate you looking though, i could kick myself for not just asking when i saw it!

NotAQueef · 10/12/2013 14:01

sort of like this one but with a belt?

Vix1980 · 10/12/2013 14:15

no, not diamond quilting, like the zara one above but at an angle rather than straight lines.

NotAQueef · 10/12/2013 14:23

Hi, yes that make sense now Blush sorry am a bit slow today! I do love a good search challenge.

Vix1980 · 10/12/2013 14:25

NotAQueef · 13/12/2013 20:01

vix your name rings a bell - were you on the November 2010 ante-natal thread by any chance?

carrielou2007 · 13/12/2013 20:41

I had similar, lady infront of me on school run thought she'd think me a loon if I asked about her coat. Then later I saw her in Morrison Waitrose so asked her then Smile navy, padded, furry hood but not the same - Joules Belmont similar one on outlet is £79.99 but this one was £169.99 on normal site. Been so warm not worn it yet Grin

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 20:51

Thanks carrie Just googled that coat and sadly its not that one. Although i do like it Smile

Its still bugging me but since looking at the zara one i have seen 5 different people wearing it, i followed a lady around next yesterday trying to see if it was the same one as id seen the other lady wearing. I tried to order it from zara and theyre completely out of stock and wont be getting anymore in Sad. Im destined to live in my marks and spencer coat forever!

notaqueef I thought the same about your name to be honest!!
I probably was, not till the end Sad but was back again few months later on a different one!

Weird how some names on here just stick!
