valiumredhead · 09/12/2013 22:36

No longer on sale in the UK but has been rebranded as men's anti dandruff intensive, black bottle and orange lid.

Apparently the same ingredients.

I nearly wept when I found out it was discontinued, it cured my 20 odd years of flaky miserable scalp itchinessSad

Let's hope this new one really is the same, will report back when I've tried itSmile

yeh could you let me know? i still haven't found out to ease my dry itchy hairline (it's not dandruff so may not be right for me however) As I also get greasy quickly it's hard for me to get the balance right

Allthingsprettyreturns · 10/12/2013 05:57

I am glad I stocked up!

Bonkerz · 10/12/2013 06:09

No!!!!!!!!!!! This is terrible news! I buy in bulk as generally can't find it on shelf and am due a re order!

valiumredhead · 10/12/2013 07:12

All-it will be perfect for you then as that's exactly what I get, all round the hair line. I've also stocked up on line just in case but reviews are saying is exactly the same, also the Loreal Facebook page.

Oh no no no no. You're talking bout the blue bottle orange lid? Will run to the one shop I know that stocks it and buy all they have!

IrisWildthyme · 10/12/2013 12:55

Use Nizoral instead - it's brilliant, and so strong that after using it for a few weeks you can start to use it less often and alternate with other shampoos without the dandruff coming back - eventually going down to once a week or less after a longer time - this is brilliant for me as I am prone to fine breakable hair and it's great to be able to use specialist shampoos for that issue as well as keeping the dandruff under control.

BumWad · 10/12/2013 13:17

Yea to nizoral

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/12/2013 13:17

Nizoral used to be available for different hair types and i got the greasy one. It's now only one hair type, no good for me. I was saying this to the Boots assistant and they did not believe me and said it's one type only! It didn't really work for me as I don't have dandruff... i think it's dermatisis on my hairline. Annoyingly i also get greasy roots so I can't use anything heavy

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/12/2013 13:17

dermatitis

KuppiKahvia · 10/12/2013 13:24

Yep - found this a little while ago. It was the only thing that solved my flaky head.. Luckily I have found that the new men branded one works just as well for me (has to be the orange intensive one), so apart from the slight indignity of having to buy mens shampoo all is well.

Nizoral doesn't work for me either :(

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/12/2013 14:16

weirdly, Nizoral helped with the dry skin on the sides of my nose, if i left it on for a few minutes, then used emollient cream after...

valiumredhead · 10/12/2013 18:16

Nizoral is no good for me either, God, I've tried EVERYTHING for yearsSad I'm buying the men's stuff on Thursday when I go into town.

OP posts:
alltoomuchrightnow · 10/12/2013 19:23

i'm sure Nizoral is only good for dandruff. what i have is dermatitis and it wouldnt work on psoriasis either? i get the odd bit of eczema too. it's nigh on impossible to find something suitable for greasy fine hair that also deals with flaky itchy hairline (mine's only on my forehead, usually) that is NOT dandruff. Why Niz worked on my nose, i do not know.

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/12/2013 19:24

Lush's Hair Doctor does help me a lot but that doesn't wash my hair. So it's a matter of leaving that on and then shampooing thoroughly. No good in a rush and of course the shampoo then undoes some of what the HD did

HermioneWeasley · 10/12/2013 19:58

Aargh - MN are raving about this, but it's nestle! [itchy scalp vs principles dilemma emoticon]

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/12/2013 20:20

which is Nestle? L'Oreal??

HermioneWeasley · 10/12/2013 20:24

Yea, alltoomuch. On the recent thread about Nestlé/change4life there was a link to the latest companies owned by Nestlé and l'oreal are on there.

valiumredhead · 12/12/2013 15:38

update

So I have bought the men's intensive shampoo with the orange lid, not to be confused with the other men's one, and I am pleased to report the ingredients are EXACTLY the same as the dark blue discontinued one, nothing added, just exactly the same.

PHEW! Grin

I nearly wept when I found it was discontinued and discovered the other day that it's now a mans one. I eventually found it today in boots and nearly kissed the bottle, I did feel a bit odd buying men's shampoo but have checked and it's identical, just repackaged. I never knew I would be so happy about a shampoo

Bonkerz · 14/12/2013 15:42

On offer in asda 2 for £4 at the moment!!

BobPatSamandIgglePiggle · 14/12/2013 15:50

Ooh - ta for the tip about the mens version. It's the ONLY shampoo that has sorted out my dry scalp. I once found it in the £shop and bought a dozen bottles. Running low now though and have been scouring the shops for weeks!

valiumredhead · 14/12/2013 17:30

I used the new one last night-exactly the same, panic over!
