Done to death but...high waisted skinnies!

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 09/12/2013 20:52

Have just been told my HOC consultant that I CAN do high waisted skinnies - I was holding out buying any more until after my style day, but now I have permission!

I have heard Next are good and Uniqlo, but anywhere else I should try?

Asos Ridleys, they do different leg lengths which is handy.

awaywego1 · 09/12/2013 22:14

topshop!

SorrelForbes · 09/12/2013 22:18

Gap high rise Skinnies are amazing. I've tried nearly all then others on the high street and the Gap ones are nicer denim and just more flattering. They really are high rise too!

BeattieBow · 09/12/2013 22:25

I agree with the Gap ones - I have the black ones and really like them. they hold their shape and are really flattering. Also stop at the ankle which I like.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 09/12/2013 22:28

So...just to be awkward...if I wanted jeans that were skinny but didn't look like leggings, had a bit more movement/room in the leg, would any of these drop out of the running? Grin

The Gap ones match your description IMHO.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 09/12/2013 22:37

Great - thank you so much, Sorrel. Much appreciated.

I have found black high-rise skinny jeans at Gap, but can't see any that are denim?

And the Lana jeans and River Island look right but when I clicked through a really loud video came on and scared me so I closed the window. Blush

Dorothy Perkins Brooke jeggings are great.

If you want to spend a bit more £££ then the Ida range by Donna Ida are amazing and it will shortly be sale time.

Djangor · 10/12/2013 09:02

Can anyone recommend anything like the Gap high waisted but in cord. The Donna Ida has Ida cords but they look like leggings - I want something in cord, like the Gap trousers, which hide my lumps & bumps.

SorrelForbes · 10/12/2013 09:16

The blue denim Gap ones go on-sale in store and on-line and then disappear! It's very annoying. I've contacted their customer services who couldn't explain why and just said it was stock control!

The black are lovely though and are proper denim material.

gaggiagirl · 10/12/2013 17:47

The river island Lana ones are fab OP I just bought a pair last week they come in different leg lengths too.

They look impossibly tiny when you hold up your size but they fit like a dream and are nice and stretchy.

MillyONaire · 10/12/2013 17:49

I have Next and love them but am currently wearing a pair of M&S skinnies with an elasticated waist (40 years before I thought I'd go down that path!) and they are really comfy. Nobody will ever lay eyes on them beyond the crotch as they are a bit ugly camel-toey but they are smooth under a longer top (no button or zip stick-out bits) and they are so very forgiving!

MillyONaire · 10/12/2013 17:50

PS they are big fitting so go at least one size down (I went for a 10 but reckon I could've chanced an 8)

Sonotkylie · 10/12/2013 18:34

Gap and Next are both proper fabric not leggings. I have blue Gap ones and black Next ones. Next ones have the edge for me in shape but both are great. Gap ones can be hard to find. If you find them, buy them!

Rattitude · 10/12/2013 18:42

I am going to be a lonely voice but the Gap high rise skinny jeans look AWFUL on me.

They looked fine when I tried them on and on the first day I wore them; since then, they have gone really saggy at the bottom and I need to wear a long cardigan or jumper to hide the bottom part. Even when I wear them after they have just been washed, they are still saggy. Shock

I agree the fabric is good quality - small consolation though!

I have recently bought a few pairs of the Sculpt and Lift jeans from M&S and I really rate them. The colour of the blue denim is dubious but the black have ones have been fab, and miraculous on my arse.

SorrelForbes · 10/12/2013 21:08

Rattitude That's odd, I'm on my third pair and haven't really noticed any major sagging. I do size down though with Gap jeans . In Topshop, for example, I'd be a 12, but in Gap I can wear a 27/28 easily. The biggest plus for me is the length of the rise. I love something that sits on my waist properly!

FortyMerryFuckers · 10/12/2013 21:12

Asos high waisted skinnys are great, really soft & stretchy like leggings but look like proper jeans.

higherhill · 10/12/2013 22:11

Avoid next lift and shape type skinnies.Bought a size 10 petite which were perfect fit at first but now after being washed and worn only a handful of times, they are baggy and need pulling in with a belt so it feels lumpy under my top. Paid about £45 for these . Avoid avoid avoid. My search continues...

Rattitude · 10/12/2013 23:04

Sorrel, it is possible that I got too big a size but the jeans looked fine in the shop and are perfect on my waist.

I do have a flat arse though... Hmm

SorrelForbes · 11/12/2013 07:04

Ah, there is no universe in which my arse could be called flat Grin
