Carrie's satc suit from the movie

PoshPaula · 09/12/2013 18:58

I would wear absolutely anything I wanted to wear. If that happened to be a fairy tale wedding dress then so be it. For me now, I would wear a really beautiful suit or very smart dress, heels, the whole bit with perhaps a different dress for dancing in at the evening do (if there is one).

Your wedding, your choice!

Letticetheslug · 09/12/2013 19:02

I wore a smart dress, hat and high heels. I'd already done the white dress thing and this time it was for me. Wear what you want to (bearing in mind someone is sure to criticise!)

I have friends who have done the big meringue, my sister wore smart but comfy and another friend bought a new T short and polished her DMs for the occasion.

Letticetheslug · 09/12/2013 19:03

T shirt...doh!

Absolutmum · 09/12/2013 19:07

I wore a burnt orange long silk dress with a red chiffon coat! Orange, red and purple flowers.

PoshPaula · 09/12/2013 19:11

Always fancied doing the Bianca Jagger 'white suit and floppy hat' thing. It would need to be a YSL suit though.

SuckItAndSee · 09/12/2013 19:15

I wore a white Bianca Jagger-style suit Grin

PoshPaula · 09/12/2013 19:40

No way!!! Respect.

smellylittleorange · 09/12/2013 21:32

Whirling turban dress with a hat with a veil and some lovely lovely shoes

SorrelForbes · 09/12/2013 21:34

I wore a bright green silk knee length dress from Biba (at HoF) and had my hair curled and dried in a very 70s esque way.

BunnyLebowski · 09/12/2013 21:34

A long-sleeved, tea length, 50's-esque lace wedding dress. And fabulous shoes!

TeamSwitzerland · 09/12/2013 21:37

I got married in the registry office and wire a lovely ivory wedding dress, was not compromising for no one lol, Wink

TeamSwitzerland · 09/12/2013 21:38

Lol wore, not wire! X

JanePurdy · 09/12/2013 21:42

I wore a red jersey dress with cap sleeves, a purple cardigan & 3/4 length leggings. Can't remember what DP wore, jeans & a shirt, possibly? We had about 4 friends & DD there.

It wasn't our "wedding" though - we had a ceremony a week later & I wore a long white dress for that.

MiconiumHappens · 09/12/2013 21:42

You can wear whatever you like - you can't get it wrong Wink

I personally would probably wear something 50s or 60s inspired, not really sure why!

JanePurdy · 09/12/2013 21:48

Just remembered that when my parents got married at a registry office my mum wore a jersey knitted by my dad's first wife. Totally subconsciously - just because it was a nice jersey...

Tuppence2 · 12/12/2013 11:18

I'd wear something like this with a pair of super bright killer heels

lookatmybutt · 12/12/2013 12:33

It depends what time of year you're getting married, but I love that Bianca Jagger idea - so classy!

My mum got married in the early 60s at a registry office and went with the suit. Hers was a Jackie O Chanel style one with white gloves and a little posy with a lucky sweep. I think she might have worn a hat, but I'm not too sure because she had a very bouffant beehive at the time.

She looked pretty darn awesome.

Sakathu · 12/12/2013 13:41

I wore an ivory lace knee length long sleeved Tiffany Rose maternity dress. Us and two witnesses. Got a few comments about having fancy flowers at such a small (surprise) wedding, but I wanted them! Do exactly what you want and congratulations!

Ps I was going to wear a cheap long white jersey sundress but DH hated it and I'm glad now I went for something I felt amazing in.

MmeGuillotine · 12/12/2013 15:53

I wore an emerald green silk 1950s halter neck style dress. :)

MmeGuillotine · 12/12/2013 15:55

Although to be fair, when we were waiting to go in an old lady pottered up to me and said 'Is this a wedding? Which one of you is the bride?' then looked me up and down with disgust and said 'Are you sure?' when I said that it was me so perhaps I could have made a bit more effort. ;(

PestoFestivissimos · 12/12/2013 15:57

I wore a dress, a hat & nice shoes Smile

But you can wear what you fancy!

TheSurgeonsMate · 12/12/2013 16:05

What else are you planning on doing that day? The registry office can take anything in its stride - it's your wedding and you set the tone. But I didn't want to change, so to me what matters is how you want to dress for the pub lunch / black tie dinner dance afterwards.
