Any ingenue naturals out there.....?

QueenCadbury · 09/12/2013 12:43

As the title says. I had my HoC style day done at the weekend and I am a ingenue natural. So basically a natural with lots of ingenue traits. I'm also a bright winter.

Just wondered if there's any fellow ingenue naturals out there to talk clothes/style not that I need any more excuses to be on s&b?

Hello! Not quite - I'm a natural ingenue though so not that dissimilar! Different body shape I suppose? I'm a bright spring...

I can identify more with the 'natural' than 'ingenue' as I wear minimal make-up and am not very good in very high heels/tight clothes! Quite like a BIT of lace though - not at all keen on tea dresses or peplums though (which I was told I 'should' try...Wink)

Aquelven · 09/12/2013 18:16

Same but different here too, a natural ingenue. Should think were pretty much the same style just a different shape. I'm a vertically challenged, size 12 hourglass & a spring, like Beginner, but a Blue one.
Glad you started this thread, we need style ones

charitygirl · 09/12/2013 21:54

Ooh me too - autumn IN. With a few caveats - I don't suit ingenue small patterns (but I wear a lot of animal print and tartan) and I can't wear anything drapey or loose up top (think most naturals can) - must always have structure.

I've found it so useful - this winter I've just avoided all the ubiquitous cocoon coats/oversized bikers. I know I need never feel obliged to try a line skirts or Breton tops again (not that these are not necessarily IN, but they're not my IN). I understand what jewellery I need (med-large scale items, but made up of small elements), what scarf styles work for me. I feel like me every day!

QueenCadbury · 09/12/2013 22:07

.

I'm really excited by it all as it definitely is me. I feel validated now that I can wear blouses that sometimes I worried may be frumpy and ditch the tees that make me feel scruffy.

charity do you have any links for jewellery that you have? I've been advised if I want to wear statement stuff to make sure it's made of smaller bits to give natural movement.

This is my fave jewellery purchase

www.etsy.com/transaction/133678262?ref=fb2_tnx_image

School Gate Style had something similar in her shop in silver!

QueenofWhatever · 10/12/2013 19:15

Checking in! I'm an IN vibrant autumn and love it. Interesting what you're saying about body shape. I'm 5'8" and an 8/10, I've lost weight recently so am a bit leaner than I would like.

I think my height and size work well as an IN, as I like girlish things, but nothing girlie. Anything described as ditzy has me running. I get quite obsessed by small details such as pin tucks and cuffs.

The natural part of me very much likes natural materials - cashmere, good quality cotton, velvet. I can't stand long skirts or polo necks, but love fitted knee length skirts and dresses with scoop necklines.

Aquelven · 10/12/2013 20:22

I veer to those sorts of styles too, even before I found I was IN, though you're taller & slimmer than me.
I much prefer natural fibres & try to buy mostly those, especially for tops, woollens & coats. I live in jeans a lot though, mainly because of my life, but any skirts or dresses I have tend to be slim, neat, pencil styles. I can't stand long drapey skirts & being short they swamp me anyway.

Agree about little details on things, intricate buttons or a little bit of lace. I'm a compulsive knitter & always pick intricate, fitted patterns in pure wool or cashmere mix, often adding a bit of improvisation like a ribbon trim on a cuff or something....never big chunky, sloppy things. At least you can find every colour & shade under the rainbow in a good yarn shop where you can't always find what you like ready made.

QueenCadbury · 10/12/2013 21:54

charity thanks for the link. I think tht may be a bit heavy for me as I need things on a medium to small scale.

I bought this hat today which I love.

The more I think about being an IN the more I know it's really me. I'm really happy to now have the validation to wear the pretty things that I like instead of worrying that they may be frumpy iyswim.

Meeeeeeeeee!!!! I'm an Ingénue Natural! She wasn't sure whether I was Ingénue Natural or Natural Ingénue. I think I'm pretty much 50-50.

The style day was a revelation. I had it done in 2010 and I love my wardrobe now. I love movement in my clothes, I love lace, don't do heels or anything clingy (which my sisters had been trying to persuade me to wear for years because, apparently, "you've got the figure for it"). I'm obsessed with jewellery and detail.

This is the best Natural Ingenue board I've found so far. Pinner is probably a Summer! www.pinterest.com/j9loveslace/natural-ingenue/

So excited to hear from other IN/NIs! :D

JewelleryObsessed · 12/12/2013 09:59

QueenCadbury if you want statement but delicate, I adore this: www.stelladot.co.uk/shop/en_gb/p/jewelry/necklaces/necklaces-all/n219

Comes in silver too. I know it is exxy but it is lush.com IMO :)

QueenCadbury · 12/12/2013 12:57

Hello all! Tht necklace is lovely jewellery but possibly a bit big for me. I need medium to small scale things to suit my size.

Here's my pin board

OP posts:
JewelleryObsessed · 12/12/2013 15:20

Love it! Yes, on reflection it's probably a bit large. Been admiring it for a while. I love it but it wouldn't work for me and I'm medium-scale (I'm 5ft 10 so small looks a bit lost on me).

I love your pin board! I also checked out Zyla a while back and found Sunset Summer (Elegant Bohemian) a good fit. Zyla's quite popular so I found a fair few boards on Pinterest. You'd probably be Playful Winter (The Ballerina). Well worth searching for boards with that name to see what you find!

QueenofWhatever · 12/12/2013 20:11

I'm struggling with jewellery a bit at the moment as well. I'd like a few nice necklaces and pairs of earrings. I have quite a lot of bracelets, but don't wear them that often as they get in the way.

The other thing I've been pondering is hairstyles. My hair is in short bob, about chin length. I'm still growing out some layers from when it was much shorter. I've also been growing out my fringe, but I'm not too sure it suits me and am thinking of having the whole thing restyled. Any ideas on what would work well?

QC love the hat, I'm quite tempted myself. I love a good hat and used to wear them all the time, but can't find any that really work for me anymore.

QueenofWhatever · 12/12/2013 20:14

Oh, this is my Pinterest board:

QueenCadbury · 12/12/2013 20:50

jewellery that's great. I'd come across Zyla boards but have never been able to work them out. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of ingenue stuff on pin although I have found soft natural and wonder if that's similar.

I have loads of delicate jewellery which works really well. Some of my necklaces though go into a deep v which I've been advised to avoid due to the shape of my face. I have one statement-y necklace which works as it's made up of small bits. I've always loved cuffs but having tried loads on before my birthday in November I'd already worked out that they didn't suit me. I look better with delicate bracelets layered together.

I've also just bought this top to replace my grey tee. It's a bit billow-y and I'm not sure whether it makes me look pregnant or not but I've literally only had a quick try on of it so will make a decision later.

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 12/12/2013 20:53

queen carry on growing it for a bit and see whether it works longer. Your hair has some natural movement in it doesn't it as opposed to being poker straight like mine? How about a side swept type fringe to soften the front?

JewelleryObsessed · 13/12/2013 07:33

That Phase Eight top is lovely Cadbury although you might find you have the same problem as me in that it's not quite fitted enough. I find empire line stuff works well. Love your Pinterest board!!!!

QueenOfWhatever I'd say defo grow it. I have long hair with a fringe and it's naturally wavy. Sometimes it gets abuse from the curling irons to make it curlier which I love. I think it's quite a soft look we're aiming for.

With regards to jewellery, Etsy really is your friend (just be careful as I've been stung with customs charges before now, ouch!).

I love this necklace and it comes in gold/silver/rose gold: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/164863335/long-pendant-necklace-with-moon-slice?ref=favs_view_5

Gotta love a nice feather: www.notonthehighstreet.com/clotheslounge/product/feather-necklace

I have this in silver, I love it because it's a brushed silver/gold and is therefore perfect for Summers/Autumns: www.notonthehighstreet.com/lilycharmed/product/gold-feather-necklace

This is super pretty: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/117042609/love-love-love-necklace-14k-gold-plated?ref=favs_view_10

I have a variation on this, the filigree in the moon is so pretty: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/129425804/minimalist-tribal-antique-sliver?ref=favs_view_18

If this wasn't gold I'd have bought it ages ago: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/154360576/fantastic-antique-art-nouveau-lady-moon?ref=favs_view_8

Cadbury you might like these too as they come in lots of different colour ways. They are a bit bigger and more statement but still suitable for ingénues imo due to the detail: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/150020205/tree-of-life-pendant-swarovski-crystals?ref=shop_home_active
(My Autumn Natural Ingénue friend has one in rose gold and it's stunning on her)

This is great for an Autumn I think: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/101716640/emerald-filigree-dragonfly-pendant?ref=favs_view_5

I'm a bit obsessed with keys: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/152512618/skeleton-key-necklace-antique-key?ref=shop_home_feat

Living up to my username today, clearly ;)

Sorry for the double post. Realised I hadn't clicked 'Convert links automatically' first time round! facepalm

MissScatterbrain · 13/12/2013 08:30

Boden has several pretty blouses with pintucks/lace details in their sale.

QueenCadbury · 13/12/2013 12:42

I always love the Boden stuff in the catalogue but the times when I have ordered from them I've been disappointed so I've kind of given up on them. I was looking at urban outfitters website last night and they seemed to have some nice blouses so I will check them out next time I'm in town.

I just tried the phase eight on again and it looks fine tucked in or half tucked. I think I will keep it. It's not perfect but my consultant said to aim to feel 8,9 or 10 out of 10 each day and it definitely does that.

It's a lovely top.

I love that dragonfly necklace.

I tend to go for quirky, intricate charm or beaded type necklaces, like these

QueenofWhatever · 13/12/2013 20:38

jewellery I really liked that first feather necklace you linked to. I'm trying not to buy anything until after Christmas now, but I am very tempted.

Qc I love the pintucks on that Phase Eight top, although personally I would want something more fitted at the waist.

I collected my Boden dress off eBay from the sorting office today. Had to queue for half an hour - grrr. It's a lovely fabric, with quite a high silk content.

QueenofWhatever · 13/12/2013 20:43

And I bought this necklace off eBay for about £3 a couple of months ago. I haven't had much opportunity to wear it yet, but I really like it.

Any ingenue naturals out there.....?
